Tried dewaxed Shellac over Transtint and...

Hello! I'm currently working on my first kit and have stained and sanded the body of this bass. I let it dry for a whole week before applying a first coat of Shellac over the Transtint dye, and let it dry for 8 hours. After coming back and sanding to smooth the Shellac, I noticed that some of the dye is pulling up from the edges of the body.

I don't entirely dislike the look, but it was not my intention, and I was wondering if it is recommended to tint some of my Shellac with the dye to bring back the color? This is not for a client, so I am okay with proceeding in any direction. I just needed some advice about the Shellac layer.

I have attached a "before Shellac" and "after Shellac + sand" photo set below.

Advice on Schoolmate/Sort-Of-Friend?

Hey y'all! Let me preface this by saying that I do not pick up on social queues easily, and it typically takes me a while of processing something to register what is happening. Because of this, I tend to struggle socially, and I haven't had many friends as over the years.

I've recently gone back to college for a degree I'm passionate in *(yay)* and I have started talking to my classmates because we've got some common interests at play and I think it's a good opportunity for me to become more social. Well, my troubles are coming back.

I find myself talking to a particular classmate (we will call them Tom) and Tom loves to talk about their past, their family, and all of the troubles they are going through. I have a habit of sitting back and allowing people to walk all over me, and I don't quite understand when someone is just using me as a personal therapist, but I am beginning to feel that it is the case. Tom and I never discuss our interests. Our conversations always revolve around Tom's trauma, mixed in with them talking about horror movies and talking about slasher films.

I'm not very comfortable at all in these conversations. I'd rather not be friends with Tom. I don't know how to say it. I always clam up and just sit and nod and smile and wait until a moment to leave.

How can I gently let Tom know that they make me uncomfortable, and that I am only interested in friendly chats about our interests?

Found a Crack while sanding- is it fixable?

I was sanding the body of a reverse thunderbird bass from a kit (SOLO guitars) I was gifted, and found a crack. It is a small crack leading from one of the bolt holes in the neck pocket. I wanted to know if this would cause problems later and how to fix it, or if it is salvageable at all? Would it spread if I were to put the neck on?

I would prefer to keep it, as it is my first build, and the kit was a gift from my dad.

Hey everyone,

I'm planning a build for a reverse thunderbird and I need some advice for the electronics. I'm going to be upgrading the pickups that come with the kit, but I have too many options and not enough money to test them all out!

The plan is for some passive humbuckers, I will need 2 in the middle position.

Are there any pickups you would recommend? I'm currently deciding between Lollar (pricey but I love the sound), Seymour Duncan SSB-4s, and Aguilar DCB-G3s, but I'm open to other ideas as well.
