Hi guys, as in the title, I was almost sure about buying a 2019+ CB500X for a 50/50 mix of solo and 2-up riding with my girlfriend.

Me M27 100kg 187cm, 7+ years on a XMAX 250 2009

GF F29 70kg 166cm, willing to take moto driving licence asap

I asked on r/MotoItaly and people warned me that our total weight (170kg/355lbs, + bags eventually) is basically the bike's max limit, which I was not aware of. They said the rear shock will bottom out easily and the 47hp engine will struggle on highways and steep hills. I mean: it's ok not to go fast for me, I just need an affordable and reliable bike, it just has to be agile in case of danger even at max weight.

Just asked Gemini for some quick advice, and in its opinion aftermarket springs can get the job done, even if playing with limits. Moreover in terms of comfort I probably would need a better seat, as they told me it's a bit thigh for +1 hour rides.

Can these solutions do the trick, or is it better to just buy a bigger bike? They suggested NC750X, CBF600S or Transalp. Any of these are a bit old or a bit over the budget. I want my bike to be a good choice and I am willing to save some more money, but only if worth it.

Sono un patentato A3 ma negli ultimi 7 anni ho guidato solo scooter (principalmente XMAX 250 2009). Voglio prendere una moto a marce, che considererò come vera prima moto. Di seguito le mie necessità:

• solo su strada, sterrati solo se necessari

• viaggi di media lunghezza (1-3h consecutive di guida)

• agile nel traffico, poiché abito nella zona romana e i primi chilometri saranno sempre trafficati

• ciclistica adatta per 2 persone + eventuali borse

• costi di gestione e consumi al minimo possibile

• possibilmente un motore lineare e non troppo sportivo.

Allo stato delle cose, la mia scelta ricade sulla Honda CB500X post 2019, che sembra avere tutto.

Chiedo però una conferma sulla mia scelta, perché la mia compagna (F29 167cm 70kg) vorrebbe prendere la patente A2 e guidarla in autonomia qualche volta. Purtroppo la differenza di altezza e la sua inesperienza mi fa venire qualche dubbio sulla scelta. Vorrei capire se esistono modelli più adatti per la situazione, se forse vale la pena prendere un 125 per un annetto per prendere confidenza con la moto a marce e rivenderlo per fare un upgrade dopo un anno o due.
