Newly arrived larvae trying to leave substrate?

First time beetle owner. I recently purchased these Dicronorhina derbyana larvae and they arrived today.

I moved them from the little deli cups they arrived in to these slightly larger containers because the cups didn’t seem to have any ventilation holes. I kept them in the same substrate they arrived in because the extra flake soil I ordered hasn’t arrived. About half of the larvae keep rising out of the substrate and reaching towards the lid every couple of hours, and I’m not sure why. Is this normal post-delivery stress or is there something about the containers they don’t like? Does the substrate need to fill the entire container? If so, what should I do while I wait for the flake soil to arrive/be aerated?

Question about in state tuition as a masters student

I am currently about to start my first year as a master’s student at TXST, and have a residency question. I was born and raised in Texas, graduated high school in Texas, and my mother still lives in Texas, but I have lived out of State for the last 7 years.

Despite being considered an out of state student, I received a waiver for in state tuition this year, but I am worried about my second year. The apartment I was hoping to rent fell through, and I am having a hard time finding an alternative place that will let me move in before classes start, meaning I won’t be able to establish 12 months of residency before my second year begins. I’m scrambling and am unable to call TXST for more information until Monday, and the information I’ve found online is a bit unclear.

Would I, as a master’s student, be eligible for in state tuition due to graduating from a Texas high school? I’m not sure how all of this works and would really appreciate any information anyone may have.

New to bone collecting here-

A couple months ago, I purchased what I believed to be a pair of bobcat mandibles (top) off of Etsy. However, over the weekend, i purchased a domesticated cat skull at a convention (bottom) , and noticed there are almost 0 differences between the domesticated mandible and the “bobcat” mandible aside from a minor size difference. So I wanted some confirmation on whether or not the “bobcat” is actually a bobcat, or if I just got scammed.

Are they just that similar? What differences should I keep in mind going forward? Thank you!
