Are GPs the only NHS professionals who can prescribe for pain?

I’ve got chronic pain & I’m on a couple of medications. I’ve been told that the only professionals who can prescribe and manage pain medications are GPs, but they’re awful at it in my experience. Are there no specialists who you can be referred to in this field? The pain services don’t use medication at all as far as I can tell.

I’ve seen many many different GPs in the last 2 years, and none of them seem confident or knowledgable enough to effectively prescribe pain meds. The methodology is pretty much like chucking paint at a wall and seeing what sticks. I’m positive that I could be living in much less pain with much less risk if I could see someone who actually has a comprehensive knowledge on how pain medications work.

I’ve asked a few professionals this question, all of whom said that no, GPs are the only option. But I’ve heard so much misinformation about who deals with what in the nhs that I’m not willing to trust it without more data.

Has anyone come across an NHS service or type of specialist that specialises in prescribing medications? Are my only options using the GPs or going private?

Could I turn my Thunderbolt Display into a HDMI monitor?

EDIT: sorry for the confusion, I’m not talking about adapters, I mean gutting the insides of the display so that it’s just the LCD screen left & mounting new HDMI components like the guy in this video does with his iMac: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx5IoiPjPC8&list=PLcT3C1Rfp-fo&index=1&pp=iAQB0gcJCcoLAYcqIYzvsAgC&ra=m

(I have a very rudimentary understanding of how this works, apologies for any inaccurate wording)

I've got a 2011 2k thunderbolt display that I love, but I'm hoping to switch to a PC that doesn't support Thunderbolt soon and I want to keep using it rather than buy a whole new monitor. I've found a lot of people turning old iMacs into HDMI monitors by gutting them and putting new parts inside. I'd like to figure out if I can achieve the same thing with my display, but I can't find any info on how to do it. Does anyone know if this would be possible to pull off? Has anyone done it before?

iPod Touch 4th gen 6.1.6 unable to join WiFi after factory reset

RESOLVED: had to change the wifi to be ONLY WPA2 & 2.4gHz. Gonna leave this up for people facing the same problem

My dad gave me his old iPod Touch and I decided to jailbreak it today. When I first turned it on it was connected to WiFi fine. It still had his old stuff on it so I factory reset it. But now it refuses to connect to WiFi. During the setup process I had to connect it to my computer since the WiFi wouldn‘t work.

I’m 100% certain that I’m using the right password. My router supports WPA2 & 2.4gHz. It was connecting perfectly fine before I reset it so it’s definitely not a problem with the router. It’s not suffered any physical damage or anything. I’ve done a Network Reset multiple times.

(I have not actually jailbroken it yet ftr, trying to sort this out before running Aquila)

I’m just stumped, can’t find anything helpful online. Any insight would be appreciated :)

Is jailbreaking iPod 4 with Aquila permanent?

Exactly what the title say lmao, if I jailbroke my iPod touch 4th gen 6.1.6 with Aquila, would I be able to un-jailbreak it? And if so, how? Idm factory resetting and data loss as long as I can back up my music files beforehand.

I have looked everywhere but surprisingly can’t find an answer to this question, any help would be much appreciated :)

Distro for steam gaming OPTIMISATION on old MacBook Air?

I’m on a 12yr old macbook air, heres the specs, lmk if more are needed:

  • MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014)
  • Processor: 1.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7
  • Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

It’s currently dualbooted with MacOs 11.7.10 & Windows 10 via Bootcamp. I use Win10 purely for gaming and I want to switch that half of the dualboot over to Linux before support drops in October.

I’m basically looking for a distro that:

  • Is very lightweight & will have equal or better game performance to Windows 10. I’m going to use Linux purely for gaming so game performance & optimisation is my priority. As long as it’s not worse than Win10 I’ll be happy
  • Will allow mods (for stardew valley, Portal, Portal 2 & Half Life 2 specifically). No idea how this would work on linux since mods are usually third party
  • Is relatively easy to use. I’m happy to do lots of tinkering as long as there are easy to follow, well-documented tutorials. But I don‘t actually understand any of the in-depth stuff, I’m very much a newbie
  • Not a necessity but it’d be cool if I could play War For Cybertron/Fall Of Cybertron on Linux too. It’s abandonware so all I’ve got is the game files, no clue how I’d get it to work on Linux. If I could tho it’d save me from triple-booting which would be nice.

So far I’ve heard good things abt CatchyOS, VoidOS & Pop OS but can‘t find much info on game optimisation & performance.

Edit: just took this quiz: https://linuxjourney.org/distro-finder and it suggested Xubuntu, Lubuntu & Linux Lite. Anyone got experience with these?

A while ago I dualbooted my brother’s 2012 MacBook Pro with Mint XFCE but it was slow & had issues with missing daemons that I couldnt fix. So not toooo keen on mint but willing to try again if it really is the best option.

so yeah that’s it, any distro suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)
