OMG!?!?! South Louisiana.

The scariest part is I didn’t see how he got there. Is this thing real? Is he sick? WTF is it?

Help for an Injured Wild Anole? South Louisiana

UPDATE: Ya’ll were right! She was just chilling, she wasn’t dying! She must have scurried away when I left, which meant the cat would have left too. It was raining today, so I didn’t see my anoles hunker down this evening, but I’ll be taking a headcount sometime this week/weekend.

The pictures are rough. Only one side of its body is visible because of the lighting.

He/She is missing a tail and has been sitting in that spot for 3 hours. Its eyes are open and it moves its head.

There’s a stray cat we all feed who is likely the suspect. I’m not sure though since she’s been throwing up this morning. She knows she’s not allowed on my side patio where an anole couple has been living for years.

Should I try to relocate this injured one to the side patio where I know the cat won’t come?

Would that be just as dangerous because of the male anole that lives here? He was chasing another male yesterday. He’ll jump from the brick wall to the A/C just to catch his competition.

Anything else I can do?

If this injured anole is the female that’s been living here, the cat will have lost its supply of fancy feast. I’ve protected the anoles from her to the point it was almost cruel.

The male anole has been here the longest. He’ll run right under my feet or near my head to catch bugs. Multiple times, he has ran up to my drink and pecked at it. They sleep in my Jasmine plant. If I go out of town, I leave the patio light on for them. I roll up rugs in the winter for them to sleep in.

Ants Near Baseboards in Bedroom (South Louisiana)

Not the best photos, but hoping you can help identify them and how they got in my room.

My house was built 8 years ago so it’s still in fairly good shape, which has me stumped on how these ants showed up behind a wooden night stand in the corner of my bedroom.

I thought they were termites, but the termites sub referred me here.

Since I’m in my bedroom 90% of the time I’m pretty astute to the tatailles roaming around. I usually only see spiders or moths.

What’s this? South Louisiana

I’m a bit paranoid since my neighbor was treated for termites last month. They were behind a wood nightstand in my bedroom. The house was built 8 years ago.

They have to be entering through the cracks between the baseboard and the wall. There’s nothing dropping from the ceiling. Or perhaps flying in from the back door but that seems strange.

I’m in my room all day and night. I know when there’s a bug in my room 95% of the time. The only thing I see are spiders, mosquitoes and moths.

What’s the best way to handle the smaller feral cat that keeps getting beat up?

UPDATE 2:
The animal shelter called me back after reporting it for animal cruelty on the 311 website. I hated to do that, but no one was calling me back.

I was able to borrow a trap last night and I just trapped it! More soon.

UPDATE:
Unfortunately I don’t have good news. None of the rescues/shelters have called me back. I received another referral from one of the members of the local cat moms group.

The sort of good news is that it came back this morning to eat. If someone can help me, I should be able to trap it.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Someone dumped or left behind a stray cat, which the neighbors and I have been feeding.

Doing so has caused the feral cats to come around looking for food, and consequently have been fighting each other.

It’s actually the larger orange/white one that’s the aggressor. The smaller black/white one keeps getting injured.

The orange/white pinned him against my fence and beat the crap out of him. It was injured so badly again tonight, it hid under the car and didn’t even run away when I tried to approach it. It finally walked out from under the car but is walking with a hunch back.

What is the best way to handle the situation? I’m afraid the smaller one won’t survive. It used to be a healthy weight with a shiny fluffy coat. Now it’s scrawny. It used to hang out with the stray cat and would come closer when I’d feed them, now it won’t get close at all.

I actually don’t like cats (had a bad experience with one), but I cried like a baby tonight. I can’t let this cat perish.

Any advice much appreciated!

What ever happened to Cheesecake Factory’s ice cream?

Birthday Cake was my favorite. The price for its size was not the best value, but the quality was really good.

Any other suggestions for birthday cake, cheesecake or ice cream with Oreos?

Spending $2 a day on Oreo McFlurries is starting to add up.

Can you help to identify ingredients or perfect this chickpea and lentil salad?

Almost 10 years ago, a health store (no longer in business) made a salad I loved. I never got a photo or a list of ingredients.

Here’s what I remember:

Chickpeas
Lentils
Cranberries
Roasted red pepper
Cilantro
Oil & Vinegar?

Does this combination seem like it would go well together?

Would you add, take away or substitute anything?

What would you use to season it? I believe it had an oil or vinegar base, it wasn’t creamy.

They need a room for their privacy and for their safety, they’re in the middle of the road!

I didn’t hear their call, but if it’s the same ones in my courtyard, they’re Rio Grande Chirping Frogs. Those have the sweetest call.

They hatch out off eggs as frogs skipping the tadpole stage. You can tell when one recently hatched. You’ll see one the size of a green pea hopping around during the day just as happy and naive as he could be.
