I30N Sedan (2022)or BMW 330i Msport g20 (2020)

Hey guys,

I'm a 20-year-old male graduating at the end of this year, and I'll be starting work as a registered nurse. I'm looking at buying my first proper car and I'm torn between a 2022 Hyundai i30 N Sedan and a 2020 BMW 330i M Sport (G20).

My budget is around AUD $45k, and there seem to be plenty of clean examples of both with under 50,000 km.

My commute will usually be around 300 km per week, but about once a month it'll probably be closer to 500 km due to longer drives and visiting family.

I won't be doing anything crazy to whichever car I buy. The plan is just to keep it tasteful with:

Lowering springs

Tinted windows

A decent cat-back exhaust (nothing obnoxiously loud)

Maybe some wheels down the track

The car will be my daily, so reliability, fuel economy and running costs are definitely things I'm considering. At the same time, I'd like something that's fun to drive and still feels a bit special.

For those who've owned either (or both), which would you go for and why? Is the 330i worth the extra maintenance costs, or is the i30 N the better overall package for my situation?

Any advice or ownership experiences would be much appreciated.

Cheers!
