Stock os

Hi, quick question. I picked up 35sp nee locally from Facebook marketplace. Not sure if it's the updated or og model. I've been using it for a few days using the retroark that's already on the system. Is it important that I update the os, or does it really make? Also should I switch to a different SD card? Thanks all

I received my pico today. Used a link to ansem (I think that was the name) downloaded the SD card stuff loaded roms. Then I downloaded the firmware for an unmodded DSI. I feel like I didn't do something correctly. How do I get the firmware on to the flashcard. Sorry for the dumb questions. Thank you in advance.
