Is “we need better RevOps” ever actually the right diagnosis?

Genuinely asking. Every founder I talk to at 30-150 employees says this, but half the time what’s actually broken is that three teams have three different definitions of the ICP, or the agency running outbound owns all the data. RevOps gets blamed for problems that are really ownership problems. Anyone seen it go the other way, where RevOps really was the fix?

Where do independent GTM consultants actually find referral partners?

curious where independent consultants have had the most success building referral relationships. I’m particularly interested in consulting networks, VC firms, venture studios, accelerators, or people with strong founder networks who regularly connect operators with companies that need GTM or RevOps help.
I’m building a boutique practice focused on founder-led B2B SaaS and fintech companies, and I’d much rather develop long-term referral partnerships than rely solely on cold outbound.
For those who have done this successfully, where did you meet your referral partners? Are there specific communities, organizations, events, or networks that are actually worth joining, or is it mostly built through personal relationships?

I hear Umbrex is not that good. Even a single intro from a VC can be enough to get things going, looking into Europe specifically, so my US network is not an option.
I’d appreciate any advice or experiences.

Getting fresh signals without Clay is killing me.

Clay is total overkill for my operation and their pricing is bananas (especially after the update), however even after I found quality data from other waterfall enrichment providers, the challenge is now finding high quality signals for synthesis and Clay does this extremely well.

Cobbling together Firecrawl + half a dozen Apify scrapers with n8n sucks. I’m losing time on building stuff and looking for solutions. I have checked GitHub, might test a few projects on there. Anybody else know of any helpful tools?

Most “end-to-end B2B marketing and sales platforms” are basically one-trick ponies pretending to be full-stack. I don’t want to mention names to give them a SEO boost, but you know who I’m talking about.

Every platform positions itself like they solve everything, but in reality they do one thing well at best (sometimes not even that)

if you don’t clearly understand what that one thing is, you build your entire stack on top of the wrong assumption and everything downstream breaks nice and smooth like. Attribution is off, workflows don’t connect properly, data gets messy, and duct-taping tools together trying to fix gaps that shouldn’t exist in the first place is my fav thing to do.

if you can’t articulate exactly what role each tool plays in your GTM system, you’re gambling with the entire setup and find out after the pipeline breaks down silently somewhere. How are you guys dealing with this?
