At least i5 16GB for school, no gaming or video editing, ~$500 - US

Country

US

Budget ~$500

Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Maybe

Screen size

Around 15"

Weight limit

Not something I think of ** Purpose**

Going back to Grad school. I don't do gaming and wont do any video editing. I had a macbook but I am just not a mac guy. So I prefer windows.

Form factor

a regular laptop

Intended usage

  • The heaviest load will be Logos Bible software. They recommend i7 but i haven't found that necessary with how I use it.
  • Office 365
  • Zotero
  • Zoom etc

Desired battery life

Not really a concern ** Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life**

I guess performance?

Info/Requirements

I am hoping around $500 but there is wiggle room. I love the form factor of my old macbook (late 2017) but I hate ios.

Another rant on why i HATE ProPresenter

Sunday morning. "Your registration information is corrupted."

Of course a church software company doesn't have tech support on Sunday. That would make too much sense. Now we are going to try and run Sunday service with water marks. We couldn't do anything to get it running again.

I have never worked with software that is so unstable as PP.

Switching podcast host from Blubrry to Spotify for Podcasters how do i preserve my existing feed address?

tldr: I want free hosting. How do I pull this off without having to make people find the podcast at a new address?

We host the files at blubrry. We use their wordpress plugin podpress to generate a feed (ourwebsite . com/rss) for every feed podcast host.

The problem: I can currently put the absolute address for the episodes in podpress (blubrry. com/mysite/mylatestepisode.mp3). That then goes to my rss feed. Spotify for podcasters does not provide that. I also have a spotify feed and would rather not change that feed address.

So can I move it without forcing people to go look for our new podcast address? I have gone round and round with more than one LLM and they don't seem to know that they are giving me different answers every time i ask.

Thanks.

Any way to load Logos on Linux?

I saw something before but it seems like the repo has been retired. What's the current status? This is the only thing keeping me from changing my laptop over to Linux.

Fellow Pastors: What does your devotional life look like?

I am asking this to preaching pastors specifically because we are in the Bible a lot for sermon prep. We all know this is not devotional reading. Yet many of us go through long stretches of this being our only Bible reading.

What I would specifically like to know:

  • Is there a set time every day you read your Bible?
  • Do you follow a particular reading plan (lectionary, daily office or otherwise)?
  • Do you journal your reading?
  • Do you study what you are reading and how do you track that study (in Logos, your journal, some way else)?
  • How does this fit into your prayer life?

Looking at my daily rhythms and looking to revamp them and trying to crowd source practices.
