Help me feel better about myself

I feel incredibly dumb.

Over the last few months I have fallen in love with
DVD collecting. I typically collect at thrift stores. I couldn't tell you how much I've spent but probably somewhere close to $1,000 across 100 or so different titles. Around 80% are normal DVD's, while the other 20% is Blu-Ray.

As you all know, the resolution of a DVD is 480p. For whatever reason, in my mind, DVD's were HD, and Blu-rays were 4k. I had no knowledge of 4k Blu-rays existing.

Before I recently got my own disc player, watching DVD's on my girlfriend's smaller 40ish inch TV looked fine — but watching my DVD's on my brand new 70 inch 4k TV, the difference in quality between DVD and Blu-ray is staggering. Some DVD’s on my TV just straight up look bad.

I'm debating just selling all of my DVD's in like a bundle on eBay to buy more blu-ray but my titles are so random and all over the place I feel like no one would buy, and if I were to sell them all individually that I wouldn't be making any money back and it would make sense to just keep them.

Wondering if A. anyone else was dumb enough to do something similar or if I'm a lone duck and B. if you think I should sell or keep my DVD's. Thanks

Collection after 1 month

This post is way too long, but my wifi has been down all day, and I'm extremely bored.

Firstly, I want to say I absolutely do not intend to collect this much each month, although I wish I could -- but I really did fall in love with collecting DVDs & Blu-rays lately. I'm switching over from collecting vinyl. I grew up on DVDs; they're much more affordable, and I've already been getting much more use out of them. I got probably 80-90% of these at either Half Price Books or Goodwill.

The (53) titles I have so far are either films that I had already seen and love, or ones I was intrigued by and wanted to give a first watch.

Films I got on DVD that I had already seen and liked/loved before buying:

- 2 Days in Paris (2007)
- Before Sunrise (1995)
- Before Sunset (2004)
- Cloverfield (2008)
- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
- Disturbia (2007)
- End of Watch (2012)
- Host (2020)
- Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
- Paranormal Activity (2007)
- Paranormal Activity 2 (2010)
- Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
- Saw (2004)
- Saw II (2005)
- The Comedy (2012)
- The Hangover (2009)
- The Hangover Part II (2011)
- This Is the End (2013)
- Unfriended (2014)
- We're the Millers (2013)

Films I got because I was intrigued and watched for the first time, and liked it:

- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) (not pictured)
- Iron Man (2008)
- Midnight in Paris (2011)
- Paranormal Activity 4 (2012)
- The Internship (2013)

Films I got because I was intrigued and watched for the first time, and didn't like:

- The Purge (2013)

Films from my collection I still need to watch for the first time:

- Batman (1989)
- Bubble (2005)
- Control (2007)
- Crawl (2019)
- Fury (2014)
- Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
- GoodFellas (1990)
- Grown Ups (2010)
- Into the Storm (2014)
- Iron Man 2 (2010)
- King Kong (2005)
- Ouija (2014)
- Paddington (2014)
- Planet of the Apes (2001)
- San Andreas (2015)
- Saw VI (2009)
- Split (2016)
- Straight Outta Compton (2015)
- Sully (2016)
- The Hangover Part III (2013)
- The Lincoln Lawyer (2011)
- The Mothman Prophecies (2002)
- The Purge: Election Year (2016)
- The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
- United 93 (2006)
- War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)
- Winter's Bone (2010)
- X-Men (2000)
- X2 (2003)

Some films I love and want to get on DVD:

- 2 Days in New York (2012)
- Before Midnight (2013)
- Blur: No Distance Left to Run (2010)
- Captain Phillips (2013)
- Catfish (2010)
- Causeway (2022)
- Devil (2010)
- Entertainment (2015)
- I Like Movies (2022)
- Mister America (2019)
- Mister Organ (2022)
- Nightcrawler (2014)
- North Hollywood (2020)
- Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)
- Theater Camp (2023)
- The King of Staten Island (2020)
- The Mountain (2018)
- Tickled (2016)
- Unfriended: Dark Web (2018)

I finally have more time on my hands and have a lot in my collection I still want to watch. Does anyone have recommendations on which ones I should watch next that I haven't yet? Thanks!

I just wanna say this obviously wasn’t Zach’s fault and he performed fine, but wow. Zach has been my favorite artist for years and this was my first time seeing him live, traveled 3 hours to see this concert.

Doors were supposed to open at 5:30. Ended up getting delayed due to rain which is fine, whatever.

The lack of communication on when gates were going to open was comical. It was all word of mouth and most of the time it wasn’t ever correct. Stood in line in the freezing cold pouring rain getting drenched until 8:30 when we gave up and went inside a random building. I started getting nauseous from being out in the cold for a few hours, and my gf’s lips turned blue.

Around 9:45, Zach posted “doors are open!” except, they weren’t, in fact, the line was barely moving at all. It was also announced that Kings of Leon wasn’t even performing anymore. It was now 10:00pm and no one had been let inside… 3 hours since the show was supposed to begin.

Imagine standing in line forever, being nowhere close to actually getting in just to hear Overtime starting from inside the stadium.

As I finally got in, not only was the stadium designed very weirdly to get to the upper levels, the employees were extremely unhelpful. After asking nearly 5 employees on how the hell to get upstairs a police officer luckily directed us in the right direction.

Ended up leaving early only to again, end up getting absolutely drenched on the walk back. What an experience.

This concert 100% should have been cancelled and postponed. I hate to sound like a Karen, but Memorial Stadium should be ashamed with how they handled tonight. Safe to say I’m extremely jealous of everyone who went to last weeks Charlotte show lol
