Not all passes are bare of snow

I was not expecting THIS much snow in July! I probably should have, Red Peak Pass is the highest pass in Yosemite, but still, this was a shock. Most of it was manageable, but it was scary at the top. The grade was 30% or higher there, and I had visions of rolling down the mountain in a snowball like a cartoon.

I didn't even have any spikes. The best way down in those circumstances? Plant your boots in the boot-prints of people who came before you. This was probably the second-most technically-demanding hiking sequence I've done, as a non-climber hiker.

Cat fleas, I'm close, but need advice on final eradication.

It's been about two months since the cats escaped out the back door and into the yard, and then brought back fleas. They're indoor-only cats, but five minutes of romping outside and the fleas have established themselves in the house. I feel like I am 95% of the way to total eradication, but they always keep coming back at a very low level. Here's what I've done:

  1. Put cats on Revolution topical monthly treatment.
  2. Hired local pest company, they came and sprayed inside and outside, twice.
  3. The only room with carpets is the bedroom. I sealed that off from the rest of the house, spread diatomaceous earth over all the carpet, swept it into it, vacuumed some time later. Since then, I've never found a single flea in the room, and I think it's pristine.
  4. Removed all blankets/throws/etc/etc from the rest of the house, just bare floors and regular furniture. I can't vacuum the entire house daily, but I do try to make sure all floors are vacuumed on a 2-3 day cycle. I shoved Fleabusters powder into the gap between floor and baseboard, and I've caulked up the gap.
  5. Cat beds and other minor towels get washed in the washing machine (hot water, extended wash) daily. Furniture gets vacuumed at the same time the floors do, including in all the cracks.
  6. I only have a vacuum bag in the vacuum cleaner when actively vacuuming, otherwise I seal vacuum bags in a ziplock bag. I buy vacuum bags in bulk now.

The fleas like to attack me when they're around, I wear white socks, they're easy to find. I've gone from finding 2-3 fleas per day to 1-2 per week. Also, I haven't found a flea outside in over a month. Flea activity is at a very low level these past few days, but I haven't achieved total eradication. It's close, but I don't know how to get that last bit to solve this.

Any suggestions? I've considered taking the cats to a groomer, have them do a full bath/trim, maybe even a Capstar in the morning and then bring the cats to the bedroom which I'm sure is now clean. Then go crazy with cleaning/vacuuming the rest of the house over a period of a week or two, and see what happens? Could this work? Any other suggestions?
