An actual review of the cultists from someone who has actually played against them.

The Outcasts: Really fun to fight because they dodge a lot but are also manageable and are really frail. I can’t believe they were removed from the game.

Rating: 10/10 It is foul that these guys got scrapped.

The Xenobite and its upgraded variant: pretty annoying especially their upgraded variant and are pretty tanky but only if you don’t aim for their heads and thankfully they take a while to actually attack you. A lot less annoying than the overseers tho because you can at least neutralize them if you shoot them in the head with any weapon unlike the overseer that has a medium pen head.

Rating 7/10 Could use some tweaks but they shouldn’t have been scrapped.

The Magus Adepts: kinda annoying but are kinda fun as well because their energy balls slow you down and can summon barrier that protects them but are frail once you take out the shields and the barrier can be flanked as well. However, they are a lot less annoying than the elavated overseer.

Rating: 7/10 Same with the Xenobites, could use some tweaks but they shouldn’t have been scrapped.

Zealots: The only one that I can consider being underpowered. Sure it summons ghouls and attacks you with a whip but that’s all it does and the ghouls are barely a threat.

Rating: 5/10 Could really use a few buffs

The Sentinel: It’s faster but much weaker than the harvester in terms of firepower, the beam kinda tickles and the arc only slows you down. The harvester is definitely the better of the two.

Rating: 6/10 The harvester is definitely the better version.

The Baneful Sentinel: Lives up to its name and is the only one that I can understand being scrapped. It’s like the sentinel but with a homing mortar attack that will instakill you, you cannot run away from it.

Rating: 0/10 this thing can go straight into the trash.

The illusionist: A hard but fun and fair unit. It has a wide range of attacks such as those giant instakill energy balls that the baneful sentinel has but it is a lot more fair because you can actually dodge it and I think it has a smaller explosion radius, I’m pretty sure he summons those energy balls that the magus shoot, and much more.

Rating: 9/10 A well designed unit.

This was not entirely what I was expecting out of the Cultists but jfc arrowhead why the fuck did you scrap them?! They could’ve been improved for Christ sake…

Can we talk about the fact that we got teleportation for the common Helldiver before the illuminate?

It’s generally embarrassing that we got stuff like this before the illuminate aka the faction that has teleportation as one of its main gimmicks…

It’s generally pathetic that after a major update “dedicated” to the illuminate, the Terminids still have more on them than the illuminate in a fucking MO dedicated to both the bots and squids lol.

Reposted because glazers tried to do damage control on the previous post.

I know that these surveys are probably useless but I would recommend taking this one because it wants to know what we think about devoid of liberty update. Worst case scenario is that nothing changes.

The Grotesques and the Butchers from HD1 are proof that the illuminate’s voteless aren’t unique nor high tech because the Cyborgs have already achieved something similar 100 years ago in a cave with a box of scraps when compared to illuminate tech.

The Grotesques are literally just reanimated infantry so creating mindless cannon fodder slaves isn’t really unique to the illuminate because anyone could do it while the Butchers is very similar to the Fleshmob which isn’t that outlandish to compare because they are just a bullet sponges that charge at you.

Me after recently being gaslit into believing that the clergy were coming despite me knowing that the 2 zombie units in a subfaction is all we were getting in terms of units for the illuminate because I knew arrowhead doesn’t do part 2s for an update…

On the bright side I at least don’t have to do an apology for igniting the fuel for the cultists scrapped controversy I guess…

I guess we are stuck with the illuminate having a bare bones roster for another year AGAIN…

Jesus Christ what the hell is wrong with SuperJerk?

Like I get that maybe making something like this on change.org can be perceived as a little weird at worst but saying that this is more pathetic than the doxxing incident is definitely an opinion to say the least…

I find it really funny that the planet with appropriators has more people playing on it than the planet with the newly released sub faction lol.

It’s almost like people prefer to fight an advanced alien race and not Walmart great value Terminids.

Edit: I know that SEAF is on the planet as well but that actually makes it worse for the void snatchers lol.

Reminder that they scrapped this for a generic alien invasion faction and zombies…

They were done to the point where they had literal independent faces and eye movement.

This is literally just Terminid 2.0. Instead of the illuminate…

From what I have seen so far these guys look piss easy to fight especially because overseers don’t even appear in this sub faction.

After Meissa, go to Erata Prime despite us most likely not being able to liberate it before Hellmire

The worst case scenario doing this is that Hellmire will fall but will decay on its own and will be liberated on its own.

The numbers mean the illuminate theme and theme is called “The Illuminate Cult.”I wonder what that could mean? 🤔

This is a major stretch but I hope this means cultists!

u/somerandomfellow123 — 2 months ago

If the new illuminate enemies are corrupted humans then they better have units that are a Helldiver equivalent of the Chaos Space Marines from WH40k where they still have sentience but are controlled by the illuminate and are not just enhanced voteless that are still mindless.

I’m just saying it would be sick as hell if we got the Helldiver equivalent of Chaos Space Marines in Helldivers 2 instead of another zombie faction.

u/somerandomfellow123 — 2 months ago

There’s no way it’s gonna be more voteless right?

Think about it. We already have a zombie sub faction (despite being main faction LTE) so why would they add another one? It would be really weird to have two zombie sub factions.

I am such an idiot for not getting this. The items didn’t rapidly went through molecular dissolution because the Void is a barrier preventing anything from entering it, it happened because the Void was teleporting the items somewhere but were pulled out prematurely!

It makes so much sense on why the teddy bear ended up where it did completely fine despite being torn apart in the void. The void was dematerializing the teddy bear and rematerializing it to god knows where!

Reminder this is why we have the Mid Host instead of space wizards that probably would’ve been way harder than the said Mid Host

Didn’t know what tag to put because I usually don’t go to this sub.

u/somerandomfellow123 — 2 months ago

The helldivers2 sub generally thinks that generic zombies are better than space wizards. (Repost because I forgot to censor the names…)

I swear that subreddit is a hivemind of bootlickers especially because that post got downvoted seconds after it got posted.

They literally tried arguing that they weren’t close to completion when the game director admitted that it was almost done in the video.

Also, I know the game director was talking about game fantasy and not lore fantasy and I still think the cultists could’ve worked with a few touch ups here and there instead of completely scrapping them.
