I made a Game Boy Color game where you're the interpreter in a Cold War interrogation, and you can lie in translation
You play the interpreter in a Cold War interrogation. A spy plane has gone down on the border, and the pilot turns out to be an enemy general. Your General doesn't speak his language, and he doesn't speak yours, so every line passes through you.
For each line you choose how to translate it: literally, softened to keep the peace, or sharpened to provoke. The catch is that characters only respond to what you told them, not to what was actually said. Soften a confession and the General never learns there was a traitor. Twist a threat and the prisoner answers an insult he never heard. Lies pile up, and someone in the room may understand more than you think.
It spans 3 days and 2 nights, has 5 endings, and is playable in English and Turkish. It's a real .gbc ROM (GBDK-2020, MBC5 with battery save) that runs in any GBC emulator or on hardware with a flash cart.
Full disclosure: I built this with heavy help from Claude (AI) for code, art and writing. I designed and directed it, and I'd really appreciate feedback on whether the translation dilemma feels meaningful.
