Inside lock bar cut out relief vs outside?

Got the Tempest Knives Mach 71 and Kubey Knife LLC Momentum with me today and noticed they both have internal lock bar relief cut outs. Love the clean look but wondering why most lock bar cut outs are on the outside? 🤷🏻‍♂️
