30 year old backpacking meals. Packaging has held up nice over time, could be worth adding boiling water and giving it a taste test.

Hey redditors,
I’m experiencing a hazy film when I wear my contacts, that usually builds up after putting them in. Imagine you look around with a ghostly film. Currently, these contacts are 3 days old, fresh from the container, and I use the ClearCare system each night. This morning, I’ve been wearing them for 3 hours and the film developed about 2.5 hours in.
The film stays over my eyes even after removing contacts, for several hours. I do experience dry eye, and using eye drops does not help the film. Taking them off and cleaning the lens with disinfecting solution does not help with the film.
This has been ongoing for at least the last 8 months of contacts, and I’ve never had this issue before then. Same brand of contacts, same prescription for at least the last five years. Same cleaning system too.
I’ve stopped wearing makeup, and swapped makeup brands, thinking there was a correlation.
My contacts are the Alcon Total30, expiration 2032. On a side note, the last several months/ a year, I can barely wear these contacts for two weeks without my dry eyes going crazy, so they do not last me the whole month.
I’ve talked with my optometrist and they’ve only suggested doing what I’ve been doing or swapping to weekly’s. I was trying to save money and waste with the monthly’s but thinking I will swap to weekly’s. I’m curious to know though why this milky film has had a new effect on my contacts when it’s never been a problem before.
