Photography in public

I went to a rural baseball game. I took a couple of pictures. They are action shots of the players playing the game. They are all adults, 25+. You can recognize them in the pictures. The games happen in an open field/park.

There's no release, no contract, no paper trail.

Question: can I safely include those shots in my website where I display my services?

I know that according to Canada's legislation, photography taken in public are owned soly by the photographer.

I'm not selling those photos, if that matters. I don't use the photos to advertise anything, just to show "this is what I do". So I don't see this as appropriation of personality, but I would like to go over this in this community for a second opinion.

What do you think?

Looking for feedback, what can be improved?

Started with sports photography last season. I'm looking for feedback, what can be improved?

Most hockey shots are through the glass as there's no holes in most community arenas in Ontario.

When to activate manoeuvre burn?

Assuming the manoeuvre requires 10 seconds of burn, when do you start the burn? I've seen everything:

1- start half burn at T-10 tp T+10

2- start full burn at T-0 to T+10

3-start full burn from T-5 to T+5

4-start full at T-5 and keep lowering birn until the DV gets close to zero, which might end up being anything between T+10 and T+20.

What's the proper way?

This is the most impressive release ever.

AGx in 5.4 was nice. Color equalizer in 4.8 was nice.

But man, 5.6 is game changer.

And the timing for me is perfect: There's zero justification to renew my Topaz subscription next week :)

Replacing a Sony 70-200GMii by a Sony 50-150 F2

Hey folks,

I shoot Junior C hockey here in Ontario, and the rink lighting is brutally dark. Because of that, I’m seriously considering swapping my 70-200 f/2.8 for a 50-150 f/2 just to gain that extra stop of light.

Depending on the arena, I'm usually shooting from the bench, behind the glass, or up in the stands (if I'm in the stands, I can switch to a 300mm f/2.8 anyway).

I know you don't see many pros using a 50-150 and the 70-200 is the gold standard for hockey, but they're also shooting in bright, broadcast-lit arenas, not local community centers.

Is this a smart move, or am I going to instantly regret losing that 150-200mm reach when I'm tight on the glass or the bench? What do you think?

Being asked to shoot board diving, have no idea where to start.

Hey folks, I recently have been asked to take pictures of a kid's diving team. I'm quite used to hockey photography but have no idea what to look for for diving. Any tips? Looks like there are way less learning material about it when comparing to other sports.

I'm particularly worried about lighting, as their activity runs indoors. I thought about bringing an off camera flash on an diffuser, and position it close to the border, sideways with the board, but I'm not sure if they will allow me to do that. Honestly, I'm thinking about not doing it if I can't have proper lighting. I'm not looking for snapshots here.

Suggestions/recommendations?

my current gear: sony A1ii, 70-200 F2.8, 300 F2.8 and 28-70 F2. I can use a godox remote trigger with a V850iii, but I'm considering a AD200 or AD300 if that would help me.

update: it's a practice session, but not a media day setting.

Is May 13th important?

Is there a specific reason why Sony and Canon decided to make major announcements on May 13th? Is there something significant about that date, or is it just healthy competition as they try to outshine each other?
