[10 YoE, Product Manager, Product Manager, USA/Europe]

I've been done many a revisions on my resume and am seeking advice on the latest one.

I'm applying to mainly PM roles but also generalist/operational/advisor roles in tech. Lately, I'm not getting many responses at all - no rejection emails but also no interview invites.

Currently remote, as it says here, but applying to roles in both the US and Europe. Any advice on how to handle location? I feel like it needs to match what it says on LinkedIn but, well, you can't put "remote" as your official location there.

Otherwise, any problem with the title(s) and summary? Better with or without them? Any formatting/wording issues? Thanks!

Advice on choosing between shoes

I've tried on several pairs of shoes and the ones that fit me the best that I'm debating between are the skwamas, solution comps, theory, and 5.10 hiangles.

For reference, the hardest climbs I'm doing right now are around v5 and I mostly climb at indoor boulder gyms. I'd probably say my "style"/favorite types of climbs are dynamic/corner problems/balance-y stuff/ crimps/small footholds - in that order. Overhangs not so much but I try them here and there.

Maybe it doesn't make much of a difference but if anyone has tried the shoes mentioned - or would recommend something else - I'm curious to hear your thoughts on them and on sizing/fit. Also, if anyone's tried the vegan and non-vegan skwamas I'm curious if they have any slight performance differences - i.e. how they stretch out. I could do either, but I do like the vegan color way more.

Thanks!

Advice on Upgrading Shoes

I'm looking to upgrade shoes - currently have the Black Diamond momentums. I actually have the older version where there's almost no rubber on the toe. I'm currently doing boulders at around V4/V5. I really like slabs, crimps, and dynamic climbs but do try everything. I'm definitely weaker when it comes to overhangs, toe/heel hooks.

Today I tried on shoes and was kind of torn between the Scarpa Drago (LV) and and Ondra Comp. The Scarpa's were maybe $180 and the Ondra's $220 USD where I'm at now. I thought the drago was a little softer/looser in the heel and I'd need to half size down + need longer to break them in compared to the Ondra's.

I'm just wondering if anyone who's tried both compare the two? Or if you would recommend something different in my case?

10 to 21 days in Kuala Lumpur or HCMC

So I have a 10 day gap before and 21 day one after a commitment in another city nearby. It's been a while since I've been to either of these but I have visited both.

I really liked HCMC last time I was there and wish I had been able to spend more time. Love the food and energy, although the noise and motorbikes can get a little annoying over time.

For KL, I remember it feeling like it had less of a soul but also enjoyed the food and it felt much more modern.

I'm looking at places to rent now for these gaps and it looks like you can get a way nicer place with pool/gym for less in KL as a short term rental. Also, I always go to some boulder hall and the places in KL look much nicer, many more options, and they have AC (whereas the ones in HCMC don't seem to?).

I'm thinking of spending more time in KL over HCMC now for those reasons. Just wondering if anyone who's been to both recently can say if I'm missing something? Which would you prefer and why (I know they're totally different places). Also, the post commitment 21 day gap is open so I could always leave earlier for whichever city is after.

Dental Implant timeline (and doing it while traveling)

I work remotely and not really based anywhere at the moment. I've been missing a tooth (rear molar) for a while now and am thinking of trying to get an implant soon. Since the tooth is already missing, an extraction wouldn't be necessary and from previous consultations I know that neither would a bone graft.

So I wanted to ask if anyone can say how the process would be? How long after do you have to wait before doing things like running, climbing, etc...?

I'm wondering how quickly I could get one implant, or rather what's the least amount of visits. I'll be based in one city in SE Asia soon for a month then will be in the region for maybe 2 months after so I could pop back over for another appointment. I imagine I'd need to fly back one more time after this? But beyond that it may not be feasible if I need to do many more visits beyond that.

Thanks for any insight! Asking now out of curiosity but going to the dentist next week and going to consult with them.

Interesting WhatsApp message after review posted...

So I did a pet sit probably close to a month ago and just received a message from the HO's on WhatsApp. I posted about it previously so some of you may remember the post.

The sit had cats that chewed cords, pooped/peed/vomited everyday in the house, would tear up packages left out, only one of the bikes worked (they said there were bikes we could use) and when we told them only one out of the 3 was useable they said that we could go pay to get the other one fixed.

The bed was horrible - mattress top on a futon that didn't even really fit both of us. Office/main bedroom was locked and not available to us. We found all this out when we arrived - it was not mentioned on the listing or in the welcome guide.

They also wanted us to arrive 2 days early to spend some time together (it felt like more to "observe" us) and the vibe was an odd one. When they picked us up, they took us to do a little hike (in the rain). Later, we went to dinner at an expensive place and they paid but they asked us to give them our half in cash. We didn't expect them to pay for us but in our previous experiences, the HO usually offered when they invited us to dinner. Dude also drank one of my beers I bought and put in the fridge without asking.

Well, we left them an honest review. I guess it's been about 2 weeks since it posted (they didn't leave one for us). They said they were shocked by our review and everything about the cats was mentioned in the welcome guide/listing (which it wasn't and still isn't). They said we should have told them about the bed when we were there, which I agree on that note, but we just figured there wasn't anything else they'd offer since the master bedroom was obviously off limits.

We could swear they told us to feel free to use anything in the kitchen but now they're asking for us to pay them back for things that we used and are hard to find in Japan. Tbf it wasn't much - some honey, a non alcoholic beer, and some protein powder (used maybe half of it).

So my question is, should I even respond to these people? My review wasn't even that aggressive, just honest.

Pet Sit with CCTV all over the Apt.

Chatted with someone earlier about doing a pet sit for them and the conversation was fine. Fortunately, and I think this would be a great idea for most to do, they sent the welcome guide for me to read through before choosing to accept or decline. In the welcome guide it says they have cctv all over the apt - basically everywhere but the bedroom/bathroom. Obviously, I'm going to decline doing the sit for this reason. It also says you can't use the coffee machine which is...interesting.

The CCTV is obviously against TH policy, right? So, my question is, if I report them will TH even do anything?

Dentist visit in Hong Kong vs Shenzen?

I've got a bit of a toothache and need to visit the dentist - was already planning on going for a cleaning. Also, I'll need to get an implant at some point but not necessarily now. So I was wondering if anyone has a dentist in HK they'd recommend or maybe even one in Shenzen (if it's as good and cheaper).

I'll also visit Bangkok in a week so I'm not sure if anyone can comment on if they'd say wait to do a check up/cleaning/potential filling there instead. Thanks!

Dentist Recommendation for a general check up/cleaning

I'm probably overdue for a check up/cleaning so planning to get one done here. I feel like I may have a cavity so it's possible I also need a filling. I also will need to get an implant eventually but that's not necessarily urgent and not sure if I'd really have time to do it all in BK since I'm just visiting. Maybe there's a good place that could do the check up + advise on that - otherwise just a general rec for the check up. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Best (capital) cities in East Asia for indoor bouldering/climbing

For anyone who's traveled around the region - what capital city did you find to be the best for boulder gyms? Or best city for bouldering in general and how did it compare to wherever you're from? I've been to Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, and Taipei.

My personal favorite was Seoul - top notch facilities, large climbing gyms, and super affordable compared to the US for climbing gear at local shops. The gyms tended to have a lot of interesting dynamic climbs but generally a good mix of everything.

Bangkok also had a lot of nice climbing places similar Seoul, more affordable, but most not quite as large and didn't offer as much, amenity wise. Still couldn't complain here.

In Japan, almost all gyms charged a registration fee which could be the equivalent of 20 USD at some places. A lot of places I went didn't have ac or a changing room and were pretty small. The climbs were good, also a lot of dynamic climbs, and most were pretty stiff on the grading.

Hong Kong probably had the most expensive gyms of all of these locations for day pass rates. A lot of the gyms also had super stiff grades and were pretty rough around the edges. Definitely had the most haggard changing rooms/bathrooms compared to the other cities mentioned is something I vividly remember haha. However, just across the border in Shenzen you could find some insanely good climbing gyms for great prices. In Shenzen, you could do lead climbing + bouldering at one massive gym I went to for less than most of the gyms Hong Kong.

I can mention the other cities if anyone is curious if the thread gains traction. I'll probably travel to Singapore and Ho Chi Minh soon so I'm curious if anyone can comment on those.

[10 YoE, Product Advisor, Product Manager, United States]

I wanted to fit everything on one page and make it ATS-friendly. I have another version with more design elements, but I am mostly using this clean text-based one. Still, I don't find that I'm getting much traction and am wondering if there is something off that I'm missing? I receive a lot of what seem to be automated rejections and am wondering if it's the resume or just a highly competitive market.

My last two positions were remote, and my previous roles were located in major hubs across Europe and the US (I am legally authorized to work in both). I'm currently working freelance/advising while traveling, but I am focusing my search on remote and hybrid Product Manager roles. I also occasionally apply to operations or developer roles.

For hybrid roles, I usually update the location on my resume to match the target city. However, this doesn't always match my LinkedIn profile since LinkedIn doesn't allow a "remote" city designation, and I occasionally shift my LinkedIn region depending on where I am focusing my search.

Is changing the resume location while leaving LinkedIn dynamic hurting my chances? Any tips on the resume layout or this strategy would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks!

Critiques/tips/suggestions on my resume.

I've redacted some things like my name, locations, and company names but if any information is missing that would be helpful in giving advice let me know. I'll say that my last two positions were remote and all others were in capitals across Europe/US. I'm able to legally work in Europe and the US.

I wanted to fit everything on one page and make it ATS friendly - I have another version that has more design elements but am mostly using this one. I've also used different AI's for help revising it. Still, I don't find that I'm getting much traction with it and am wondering if something is off that I'm missing? I receive a lot of what seems to be automated rejections and am wondering if the job market is just that competitive or what?

I'm currently remote and bouncing around but focusing mainly on applying to remote and hybrid product manager roles. I also send out applications to the odd operations/developer role.

For the hybrid roles, I usually change my resume location to match the city of the position. That sometimes does and doesn't match up with my Linkedin location although my description explains I'm remote now but you can't choose remote as your city on LinkedIn. I also change my LinkedIn location from time to time if I decide to focus or find I'm applying to many jobs in the same location/region. Not sure the best strategy here...

Any tips would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks!

Best Boulder Hall / Spots in Hong Kong

Hi everyone! I’m currently planning an upcoming trip and will be staying in Hong Kong for around one month. I plan to still boulder while I'm there and am planning to get a monthly pass at a local climbing gym. Can anyone recommend the best bouldering hall to check out in terms of overall value, balancing the price, the amount of climbing space, and the quality of the training facilities? For reference, the hardest climbs that I can do at the moment are usually around V7.

To give you an idea of my personal setting preferences, my favorite climbs are more dynamic but I'm also open to more technical one's - preferably a good mix. If anyone here happens to be familiar with the gym scene over in Seoul, my favorite gym there is Seoul Forest, so I would love to find something with a similar open vibe, high-quality modern setting, and a little stretch/workout area.

In addition to gym recommendations, I am also keen to check out some outdoor bouldering spots. If anyone is able to recommend some nice outdoor spots that would be amazing too. Thanks so much in advance, and I really appreciate any advice or local tips you can share! Ah, and if anyone has recommendations for local climbing stores I'm all ears there too!

Where to find Duffel Bag like this in Seoul?

I had a packable (packed into itself) duffel bag like this but now I need a new one since it's seen better days. I feel like Seoul must have a store/market that has something similar? Any recommendations are appreciated! Or if there's a better thread for this question please let me know! Thanks

Bouldering gym recommendations in Seoul

Visiting for a couple of weeks and I went to THECLIMB Yeonnam yesterday which was great. Big space, nice facilities, and a lot of fun dynamic climbs.

I've searched around and mainly just see people recommending THECLIMB but in photos most all the bouldering halls here look amazing. Hook, Plastik, Onfleek, climbing park, etc... Seoul forest is one that has all 5 star reviews on google maps.

So any recommendations for boulder gyms aside from the climb or is it really the best? For ref, hardest one I did at theClimb Yeonnam was an 8. Or tips in general - like any place that's good but cheaper or offers discounts for morning/evening sessions?

Seeking opinions on leaving a sit "early"

I put it in quotes because I wouldn't really consider it early, per se, but that's why I'm seeking opinions. The specifics here are that these HO's live a 20 minute walk from the station and 2.5 hours from the airport via metro. They'll get home around midnight but don't want me to leave until the next day. The sit is for cats whose last feeding is in the early evening. I'd like to leave after the last feeding, before they get home, and get a hotel close to the airport on this night vs making the trek there at 4/5am the day after they get back. Does this seem reasonable?

Ok, the above is my question this last bit is more me venting on the details of the sit. The cats have pooped/vomited/peed in the shared kitchen/living room almost every day of the sit. They will also destroy things if left out - tear open food packages, chew electronic cables, etc... We weren't told any of this in our chat and it wasn't mentioned in the listing. My partner and I both work remotely and because of this we have to move all our things back and forth from this room to the guest room multiple times a day. They have an office, which the listing didn't say we could use, but considering all of these things it does make it a bit more frustrating knowing it's there and seeing the giant lock on the door every day.

We also thought the guest room would have a proper bed but when we arrived, it was just a futon with a mattress top on it that didn't fit and isn't really big enough for two people so we just put the mattress top in the floor. They also said there were bikes for us to use but two of them are broken. I could fix one of them myself but, low and behold, the tool shed is also locked. They said I could walk it to the nearest bike shop that's 30 minutes away if I want to (pay) to fix one of them. Also, we even arrived a couple of days early per their request because they wanted to "spend time with us" which was a first for me and they weren't exactly super hospitable in these two days. So, yeah... just venting about the sit with these last two paragraphs.

Question about review with good experience but not great communication.

I recently had a pet sit where the pet and actual on sit experience was great. The communication was...unique.

From the beginning, immediately after the video chat where I said I would accept the sit, the host was pinging me on Whatsapp to create the group chat when the sit was 2 months out. A couple of weeks later, still before the sit, they messaged to say the would actually be getting back a day later than when their sit said it would end. Fortunately, I hadn't booked tickets to leave yet so it was fine. Maybe a week before the sit was to start, they messaged a time/place to meet with all their friends 2 days before the sit started without asking if the time worked (but they knew I'd be arriving in said city on that day). The last thing was that they wanted me to leave the keys at their workplace on my final day (which was a day before they'd get back because of their date change mentioned earlier). My flight was a red eye so this was a bit tricky and they said to leave it with security. They told me to message a coworker, who never responded. Then they told me to message another coworker who said they'd pick it up from the apartment, delete the message, then messaged, "XYZ actually wants you to leave it with our company security". Maybe 5 minutes later they messaged me saying, "And?". I found it kind of strange because they'd obviously messaged this coworker who then messaged them so they knew it had been sorted and expected a response within 5 minutes?

I know that's a super long post but I'm a bit torn. Everything was great aside from these things concerning communication. They had tons of glowing reviews and also left tons of glowing reviews for all previous sitters. I couldn't help but feel they were maybe bummed about these things. Like, even after that meeting with their friends later on they messaged after one of those people helped out with something saying, "see how great it is to have connections" kind of insinuating they thought I didn't appreciate this meeting they arranged.

Edit: I meant to say question about *sit* not review. But on that note, I'm wondering if/how to mention these things in my review for them.

Allowed to check a skateboard deck like this?

I created this image with AI but this is kind of my idea. I wouldn't just use saran wrap, I'd go to one of those wrapping places in the airport.

Normally, I don't even check a bag and put the trucks/wheels in my suitcase then carry the deck. However, I have an upcoming flight where I have to check the bag and was thinking of trying to strap it like this - only have a carry on size suitcase now. I'd just carry the deck with me but I'm not sure security at the airport here allows it as carry on.

Anyone tried it? How'd it go?

Edit: Not for a flight in the US so they may say the deck isn't allowed to be carried on. One checked bag is included in my upcoming fare. So my options here are:

A. Do this. I think worst case scenario is it comes undone and my luggage shows up minus the deck. Seems worth the risk considering the next two options.
B. Try to take the deck through security, potentially be told it has to be thrown out.
C. Pay to check only the deck (which would be more than it would cost to buy a new one so not worth it)

But my question is *if* anyone has done this and *how* it worked out.
