I need an older sounding person. The character is supposed to be in their seventies but I’m taking anyone who sounds remotely older.

hey guys, I’m on a mission to sew a good flowstar.
I’ve sewn two already. First one was kinda stiff (that proved useful when out at a windy festival).
Second one was perfect in terms of weight and size.
What i’m having problem with is the material and sewing of the “ribons” on the edges. I used a metrial that in the end I find too thin - it’s ripping at the seams.
Also, i kinda sandwiched the flowstar between two pieces on the edges, so sometimes due to my imperfect sewing the inside of the flowstar peeks outside. Im wondering if bias tape would be better, but then i would be able to saw the ribbons like i did now and like i think ive seen on normal flowstars - sewing one “square” and then the other.
Can you please take pictures of how this is made when buying a flowstar? describe the material?will be much appreciated, thank you!
i live in europe and with shipping and everything, ordering a flowstar is kinda out of budget for me. so i decided to try and make one, even tho i never held any flowstar, never seen it irl.
if there’s something i’m worse at than sewing it’s definitely geometry and cutting.
my sewing machine had a hard time with me and i had a hard time with it back. i had to constantly adjust the tension so pardon my sloppy stitches.
but i had fun, learned along the way and next one will be even better!
i bought a second hand swimsuit fabric for the outside. indside is one layer of towel and four layers of bed sheets. it’s probably thicker than it’s supposed to be but i just like the weight.
