Tomahawks

Smoked 2 prime tomahawks yesterday. Salt brine for 2 days in fridge then seasoned one with salt pepper and the other with Holy Cow from Meat Church. Smoked to 120 internal and finished on Weber gas grill.

Spurs Cope Brisket pt. 2. This time doing a full packer.

After the loss last night I couldn’t sleep. Decided I had to play my part and make a brisket.

Heres my thought process: Spurs were down 2-1 to Thunder when I made the brisket but it was just the flat. They came back and won the series. Now they’re down 2-0 so I’m making a full packer. BBQ Gods bless the Spurs 🙏

Update: Spurs Cope Brisket

Smoked the flat for about 12 hours set at 225, but it was raining overnight so the temp was running around 180-200 for a while. Wrapped at around 5:30am at 168. Overall, bark was awesome, but meat was a bit dry. I think next time: tallow before wrapping, more consistent temp should prob help with dryness.

Drowning my Spurs sorrows with a Brisket

The only way to get over a loss is to get a brisket going. Had a 6.5 lb brisket flat in the freezer. Salt & pepper. Stay tuned.

Take a breath. We’re 1-1 going home

I think we all forgot what it feels like to be in a dogfight in the playoffs. Spurs had their fair share of questionable/dirty incidents (Suns series) and other series had bad no calls missed calls too (2016 Thunder where Dion waiters shoves Manu).

It’ll be alright, we’re going home 1-1. If you asked me what the realistic best case scenario would’ve been before the series, I would’ve said that we steal one at home. Let’s just hope Fox and Harper are ok (though I think Harper misses the rest of the series tbh). This series was always going to be insane. We get a few of those turnovers back last night, we win. Go Spurs Go
