I love adding homebrew monsters and matching cards. Personally I use the old style minis and cards, so I have my own thing going separately from this. However, I know others use the new style minis and cards and I figured I'd like to start expanding my cards (and minis) to reflect more types of monsters, and to do so, I like to have images that actually match the mini itself. So I've been working to create Monster Card images for some of the Mythic Tier monsters that don't have specific cards and can be used as alternative monsters, as well as some art for specific monsters and creatures based on actual minis that I own or would like to own.

The non-official minis are available to purchase on a fairly famous site that prints minis, and you can definitely find them if you look. I've also got icons for all of these, and will be making them into cards eventually, but for now I just wanted to share the art in case anyone else might want it or want to use it. I've got more pictures as well (Skaven, Beastmen, Elementals, and all of the Talisman 5th Ed. Heroes), but here's 20 for now.

In the classic game, Chaos Warriors were just big guys in armor with an axe. So if you wanted minis for them, it was easier to make the Doomguard look special and cool. I know many people (myself included) used the BattleMasters Chaos Warriors as Doomguard since they were mostly the same guys but with different helmets and had a cooler weapon and shield.

For Dread Warriors in the new game, the minis are already hulking, massive guys with wicked and terrifying looking armor. It seems a lot harder to find minis that look even bigger than that or more special when the Dread Warriors already have such unique looking armor.

I decided to go the route of having my Doomguard look smaller and less menacing, but elite because they are just so well trained and deadly. I went with this (and related minis) to represent them. I feel like they have a look that fits in well with the established Dread Warriors. (Note: this is colored by AI.)

What do your Doomguard look like?

I’ve been collecting for my comic shelf off and on for about 25 years now. This doesn’t count my three longboxes full of single issues in the closet, including my 90s X-Men collection. Also included at the end are the few non-comic shelves, including all the roleplaying books for those interested.

Also, I try to keep my Marvel books arranged chronologically in-universe. Ultimate first, then 616, then other universes/out of continuity at the back.
