Would you ever move back to your home town?

I've been living in Toronto for most of my adult life, and I've lived a few other places too, but I feel as a get older the thought of heading back up north is really tugging at me.

I work in a creative field so if I up and left Toronto I'd have to find new work in a whole new field and make peace with the transition from big city to smaller city and/or smalltown life.

Is anyone else in the same boat? What's keeping you from making the jump? If you've already made the move back, are you happy with the choice you made? Do you feel satisfied?

Singer-songwriter looking for bandmates

Hey folks,

I'm a singer-songwriter who writes, composes, and performs their own musical material, and I'm looking for bandmates who are interested in gigging regularly, recording sessions, releasing projects, and touring etc.

I've primarily been a songwriter for the last few years, but I'm really wanting to get back to the stage, perfecting my sound and to my performance skills.

The songs I write usually fall into pop-rock, folk-rock, and soft rock genres, though some also fall under country and R&B too.

I'm really influenced by artists like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Kathleen Edwards, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Fleetwood Mac.

I'm looking to hopefully find a lead guitarist, a pedal steel player, a bassist, a drummer, and a keys player. I'd also love if two of these players could also sing harmony as well.

At this point, I think I'm set on finding a lead guitarist who can sing, so that we can work together to flesh out the songs, but I'll be grateful to find any other players who are interested, and if the chemistry works, that would be amazing.

If this might sound like something you're interested in, please let me know.

Thank you!

Where do I go from here?

Hey folks,

I’m a native English speaker who’s at a B1 level with my French (of course I want to improve at least to a C1/C2 level).

I’ve always been interested in learning a third language, but I haven’t been able to whittle it down to just one choice. Over the years I’ve dabbled in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tamil, Hindi, Norwegian, and Swedish, but I’ve never really followed through.

How have some of you ultimately chosen your third language and what has kept you motivated?

I think I really love learning about culture, tradition, cuisine, and watching media. I’ve mostly watched a lot of Scandinavian media, read many a Nordic noir novel, and listened to Swedish and Norwegian music. I love Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese food, and their scripts. I’ve read so many novels translated from Korean. I’m always curious about Hindi, Tamil, and other Indian languages too, but I really don’t know which to choose and why.

For now I’ll just keep working to improve my French until maybe another language pops out and keeps my attention.

But how did you decide and which would you choose based on the information I’ve provided?
