Birthday wishes from everyone's favorite Eridian

I always make my dad home made cards for his birthday and I had to do a PHM one this year. I'm particularly happy with how the inside image turned out.

Foster fail, not in the fun way

I lost my soul dog in January of this year. I think the struggle of losing him has been worse than when I lost my mom during the pandemic. I miss having a dog, but no I couldn't manage getting one for myself at this time. I thought fostering might be healing for me while helping another dog. I've slowly been making progress of finding a rescue group and setting up my house, but yesterday I got a message asking if I could take a little terrier. Her mom was admitted to the hospital and will be there for a few days. (This group specifically fosters dogs for people in crisis situations, so they have owners to go home to)

The first few hours were fun if bittersweet, but by the evening it became too overwhelming. She is a very sweet dog, and I can't blame her for the issues - but she kept me up all night and I had to sleep on the couch. She had diarrhea and peed multiple times inside despite taking her out frequently. I think the hardest part though is everything reminds me of my Jack. I kept crying while taking her for a walk because those were all the places I used to take Jack.

Rather than being a healing experience, it's just pouring salt into the wound of what I lost. I feel so terrible, I'm not just missing my boy I now feel like a failure in this.

Struggling with proportions and scale

In the last year I have gotten back into figure drawing and am struggling with two issues that have plagued me my whole art life.

  1. Keeping the head proportional to the body and looking like they belong together
  2. Composing my pieces on a page, I'll aim to capture a whole figure and end up running out of room

I've included some of my "worst offenders." Anyone else have similar struggles and/or suggestions?

Help with SharkBite connector

Trying to repair a section of pipe with a SharkBite connector. I cannot get the connector to move back down to complete the seal, even with the plastic adjuster thing. Realized too late I should have placed it on the other way around... Pretty sure it is caught on some uneven piece of the sauteing since it is so close to the valve. Anyway tips for getting this sucker to move?!

Need to move the connector to the left but it is so close to the valve, having trouble pushing down to get it to move.

Question regarding Discover Debit Cashback

Does anyone have experience and can share what kind of payments qualify for the 1% cashback with the debit card? I have read the list of what Discover officially says, but was hoping for some insights.

  • Utility payments. I thought I read somewhere they wouldn't count but hope I'm incorrect. Does it make a difference if you have autopay set up with your provider?
  • Paypal. If I have the card saved in my Paypal account to be charged for purchases (vs paying off a Paypal balance), does that qualify?

Thanks for the help!

Should I move this blazing star plant?

I have two blazing star plants, last year both were doing good and bloomed. This year, one is clearly not doing as well as the other. Should I move this guy to see if he does better elsewhere?

How do I find the original artist in this mess?

I almost never shop on Etsy anymore since it has become a drop shipping nightmare, but I wanted to find a fun Project Hail Mary shirt. Well, I found a bunch that all seem to have ripped off the similar design.

Does anyone know how you can hunt down the original artists in situations like this? I'm assuming there was one somewhere (maybe they didn't even have the artwork on a shirt). Reverse image search has failed as it just pulls up more copy cat sellers.
