Good destinations for a vegan?

Hello!

I’m a big lover of hiking and have done a few long distance routes in the UK but I’d love to do some hiking in Europe.

I’m very open to destination at the moment - Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia have all come across my feed as beautiful options.

I know the nature of hiking is that you often have to bring/cook your own food, but I was curious if anyone had done any hiking abroad and found vegan options/can recommend vegan-friendly areas. I’d be happy to stay in one place and do day hikes if anyone knows anywhere that caters to vegans with good routes on the doorstep 🌱

Thanks for any help you can give for this slightly niche question!

Does anyone else ALWAYS have issues with Delay Repay?

Every time my train is delayed, I at least get a little buoyed by the fact that I’ll get some of the extortionate ticket cost back.

However, I don’t remember the last time this actually worked for me. I’ll submit the form and the train company come back with some rubbish, like they can’t identify the journey I’m referring to despite me spending 10 minutes filling out all the details and uploading tickets. Eventually I’ll give up for the sake of a few bob.

Most recently, I can’t claim for a delayed train because they want to see evidence of all legs of my journey – but my outward journey’s ticket was swallowed by the ticket barrier without me thinking to photograph it (forced paper ticket, I usually use e-tickets).

It’s East Midland Railway this time but I feel I always have issues regardless of operator. I know this is probably an intentional tactic to get out of their duty to repay but it just infuriates me, especially when guards on the train are enthusiastically telling everyone to get straight on the website to claim.

Sorry, this post doesn’t have much purpose. I just needed to get it off my chest. Sent from yet another delayed train.

The word “clarty”

My grandma always used to use this word, meaning “tacky” in the sense of not classy, or overly showy.

When I google it, it comes up as meaning sticky (which I guess tacky does too) but not the definition above.

She was from Hartlepool so I wondered if her definition is something others here recognise/use?
