Sizing Rec: Shrinking Progression

The sizing recommendations seem to be all over the place. Here is what I found when I scoured Reddit, instagram and TikTok for sizing info. I also photographed the progression of sizing when shrinking my first mockneck, as most people recommended buying it oversized then shrinking with the wash, but I couldn’t find anyone showing what it looked like after shrinking.

- 5’3” (my height) seems to be the height cutoff where people 50/50 size down for fitted look or size up for oversized look
- People report the Heritage material shrinks more than Fleece
- For photos, I am 5’3”, wearing 3” shorts. I bought a Heritage mockneck (Dunkin collab) L/XL.
- Photo 1 is right out of package, Photo 2 is after first wash (cool wash, normal dry), Photo 3 is after 2nd wash on same settings
- These photos are screenshots from videos. I’m happy with the final fit of photo 3 but please note it is still quite oversized! If I were to buy again in the future, I would probably purchase the L/XL again.

Anthropologie Chestnut Hill Sample Sale For Guest Attire

I got married last year with an intimate courthouse ceremony, and we are celebrating our anniversary with a week-long beach vacation with close family and friends in lieu of a full reception. I attended the Anthropologie Chestnut Hill sample sale today, mainly on the hunt for fun bachelorette party attire (we are throwing a post-marriage bachelor/bachelorette party), wedding guest dresses, and accessories.

Pictured are some of the non-white, non-wedding gown dresses available. Each was $75 at the sample sale (price in screenshot was online sale price on the same day). Some pieces, like the second dress, seemed to be single pieces offered, maybe for defect (the one I tried on was a different color, but 1/2 of the hook was missing to close the dress).

- Event listed as 7AM - 12PM. I arrived at 7AM, there were maybe ~50 brides/parties already in line. Not many parties added into line behind me, maybe 10 more.
- It was quite hot and sunny waiting outside in line. The sales associates were so kind; they offered bathroom use, mini water bottles, and around 8:00 AM offered to take photos on our phones of racks that were still left inside.
- I got into the store at 8:18 AM
- There were about 5 racks of bridal dresses, ranging from short to long length, and about $600-800 (though I didn’t see all of the prices because I was focused on the colorful dresses)
- All wedding guest/bridesmaid dresses (1 rack, maybe 15 designs of dresses left by this time) were $75 - pictured are some examples of what was available (mostly BHLDN brand)
- Brides were limited to 5 items for each fitting room session (you just have to wait in line again if you want subsequent try-on sessions). I went into the fitting rooms twice and did not have to wait at all both times.
- Very limited supply of accessories (I ended up buying a bracelet and necklace, both same price as listed online on sale). There was only one pair of heels on sale.
- Everyone was extremely polite! No rushing, no big crowds. It was a great experience overall.
