Before and Afters
I posted not too long ago about my pocket screen becoming damaged, and the struggle to get a replacement. I just tracked down all the original pictures I took back in January when it happened. I was in the middle of moving when it had it's accident so I couldn't afford to fix it right off, and also why I chose to fix it myself.
For anyone who's curious, story is: My Analogue Pocket is usually in a soft draw string pouch, which happened to fall out of the car into the snow in a grocery store parking lot back in January. I originally thought it was gone forever, but I went back to the parking lot anyway to find the pouch was buried in the snow, damp on the outside, and judging by the marks on the bag, pretty clearly run over. While the bag looked pretty haggard, the pocket inside was dry! So I spent the afternoon assessing the damage. Other than the screen, everything else was functional. MicroSD was intact, buttons all worked and none got stuck, and it powers on. Screen was obviously destroyed but my AP was working in the dock so that meant there was a good chance it was just screen damage and fixable. Fast forward to earlier this month when my screen showed up (2 weeks outside the delivery limit).
I have to say; I am clumsy. Supposedly it's from one of more of my mental illnesses but the point is I drop shit a lot, forget things, etc. The Analogue Pocket is built like a damn tank. This thing was dropped in the snow, then run over and smashed, and the fact that I am sitting here playing me some Link to the Past (orig GBA LTTP/4 Swords cart) on it is a testament to it's build quality. This is the kind of product I hope for when I purchase these sorts of things. Something that doesn't explode and cause the next big bang if you drop it on the floor.
If you were on the fence about getting one, and this story didn't sway you, you probably don't need one :) I don't work for them, I received nothing for free, and I went through hell to get a replacement screen from a 3rd party seller in China. I got the console back in late 2023. And it still looks as pretty as the day I unboxed it. I also might have hugged it like it was my teddy bear from when I was 3.
Edit:
For those that asked, the price was a little over $60 usd after taxes and I got it here: New Replacement LCD Display 3.5" 1440*1600 For Analogue Pocket Console Black
