Insurance not covering their fault

My 2021 Tesla Model 3 was damaged in a not-at-fault collision while it was parked. The at-fault party is insured by GEICO.

I took the car to a Tesla-certified collision center. The shop says that, as a Tesla-certified facility, it is required to use Tesla OEM parts for the repair. However, GEICO is only willing to pay based on the cost of alternative/non-OEM parts, leaving me with a $1,130.95 difference.

GEICO told me they are allowed to base their estimate on the most cost-effective parts available. The problem is that the Tesla-certified shop says they cannot use those parts and remain compliant with Tesla's repair requirements.

I wasn't in the vehicle when the accident happened and I had no fault in the collision, so I'm confused about why I would be responsible for more than $1,100 of the repair cost.

Has anyone dealt with this before, particularly with GEICO and a Tesla-certified repair shop? Is there a way to challenge the parts determination or recover the difference from the at-fault driver's insurance?

I'm in Wisconsin, if that matters.

Should I claim the damage to my car that was caused by my roommate?

Hi all,

So, I have a tesla model 3 insured by tesla insurance. During the first 4 months of the year, I stayed with my parents in California and left my car in Wisconsin. My roommate in Wisconsin needed to rent a car, and since we're both broke, she thought she would rent mine and give me the money instead. I agreed to that. When I came back from my trip back home, I had a feeling to check my car before I even sat in it the first time. I checked on the passenger side, and low and behold, there was somewhat major damage to the exterior (it looks as if someone was trying to park it and hit a column driving in). I asked her what happened and she said she does not know how it happened but that she will cover the costs.

Now, to help us both, I wanted to run it through insurance. But tesla will not tell me if claiming it would affect my premiums or not until AFTER I claim it. My roommate no longer has car insurance, and would not be able to run it through her insurance. The damage to my car costs about $4000 to fix. What would you do if you were in my position? Does this affect my premiums? I dont know as I have never dealt with car insurance before.

My insurance is pretty good. I have a $1000 deductible and the rest would basically be covered.
