Does moving on mean forgetting, or just living with the memory

Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. A lot of modern stories focus on cleanly cutting ties and completely wiping the slate clean after a heartbreak. But in reality, especially when you've survived a tough phase of life with someone, those memories stay woven into the fabric of who you are.

I’m currently writing a contemporary fiction story called My Almost, heavily inspired by this exact bittersweet feeling.

It’s set in Coimbatore, following a girl who falls deeply in love while struggling to survive in a new city, only for them to separate. 10 years later, she stands at the exact same spot, realizing that her heart never moved on She just learnt how to stay with the same ache without getting hurt anymore.

As readers, do you prefer fiction that gives a perfect happily-ever-after, or do you connect more with these realistic, "almost" love stories that leave a mark in your chest?

(P.S. I’m looking for 5-6 beta readers from this sub to check out my first few chapters on Google Docs for free. Drop a comment if this vibe matches your reading taste!)
