Found a recording of my first ever U2 show.

I found an audience recording of the first ever U2 concert I went to in 1992 (one of the best shows ever) on YouTube.

I downloaded an mp3 but the sound quality was ok and not great because 1992. So I uploaded it to Claude and had it remastered to sound less tinny and more modern and then cut it up into individual tracks and while it did that, I designed a cover. It’s not perfect but it’s quite good considering.

Now I have a new hobby to find more shows I want to revisit.

Discuss I/O : Us :: O\I : Up

I know we’re only halfway through but the vibes I get is the I/O is like Us is open, full of worldly sounds and introspective lyrics while O\I is more like Up in that it’s darker, dirtier and more expansive in themes. Both great but I was noticing the correlation this morning.

LA felt off. Good but off.

Went to the LA show and it was good. The setlist was great. The Former Site Of was a highlight.

But that said, something felt off. I think it’s the rotating nature of the band players but aside from Carl, who here is actually an OG member of this band? In some ways, it felt like a NP cover band. They hit the notes but there wasn’t the passion and excitement of a band who made these songs. They seemed tired and weary and even though they played well, it just felt like they were going through the motions. I love these songs but just wasn’t as moved by them playing them as I wanted to be.

Anyone else catch them recently and have those feelings or am I just off here?
