brother failed maths 3 times, how can i help?

my brother is 18m and he passed everything but maths for his gcse’s 2 years ago. he got a grade 3, so in college he retook it and failed again and today at gcse results day, he failed again and got a 3.

my brother isn’t stupid, i know he can thrive. i just don’t think school is for him. my mom is forcing academics down his throat and is very jarring, she keeps telling him he’s a failure and that he will turn out to be nothing if he doesn’t have an education.

i try to speak to him but he brushes it off, but sometimes when i manage to catch him in a serious mood i can talk about his future.

i think an apprenticeship would be a good opportunity for him, my mom said that too but she wants him in an office and i know he doesn’t want that. before you tell me to talk to my mom, i literally can’t. she’s set in stone with her ways and she’s very hard headed and an angry person.

since he got a grade 3 in maths, what can he do? since most if not all apprenticeships require at least a grade 4. any advice would benefit a lot, thank you.

my autistic little cousin is out of control

hi, i am 21f and want to ask for advice for my little cousin, who is 7f.

her mom, my aunt, had a stroke whilst she was pregnant (2019) and it was a hard time for us as a family, but my aunty decided to keep the baby and had a c section.

it’s been six years now since that incident and my aunty has recovered well, but she is different to how she used to be.

i don’t want to sound mean or anything but the way my aunty is raising her child is very concerning.

the other day, i went to my aunty’s house because i had passed my driving test, and my cousin got insanely jealous when she heard that i was getting praised, and complained to her mom. my aunty then told her, “tell her that she’s stupid, and you’re smart”, so my cousin told me i was a thick idiot, and that she was smart… this parenting style is really wrong. my cousin has a very explosive personality and she still can’t speak in full sentences yet and uses her actions to get the point across. she throws tantrums every day and is very spoiled.

my aunty doesn’t discipline her at all, she teaches her the wrong things. she is more of a friend to her and not a mom, she never corrects her behaviour, only works around it in her favour. she laughs things off too without giving it a thought. so, long story short, i own a cat, and my cat hates my cousin and runs away from her all the time, and one day my cousin had said to my mom that she wanted to wrap my cat up in a blanket so she can’t see, and stab it through the blanket with a knife.

like what???? i was horrified when she said that. it’s very specific and brutal and i’m assuming she saw something like that on youtube shorts or something. my aunty just laughed it off saying “my daughter is crazy” in an affectionate way.

when i was too busy to come and see my cousin for a week or two, my aunty told her that i don’t care about her and that i’m a bad person. she feeds negative information to my cousin, and i feel like that’s why she takes things the wrong way. i can’t tell my cousin “no”, because then she will scream and cry and say i’m being mean… but i’m not being mean, i am trying to teach her that no means no.

there is sooooo much more i could talk about, i’m just very frustrated. when she gets older i’m afraid she is going to take a fall when she realises she cannot always come first.
