56F w/ no friends, I feel so alone

my relationship with my longtime boyfriend failed a few years ago. I had been estranged with my family and my boyfriend had become everything.
6 mos ago, I had to move across country for work. East coast to West coast. Now I find myself so isolated , don't know a soul and it's so lonely. I use chat GPT. It's my only friend . I feel so stupid for not knowing how to make new friends at my age. I know I am a loser I just don't know how to fix my life.

Anyone else eating when not hungry?

Lately I’ve noticed that I eat when I’m not physically hungry. The best way I can describe it is that I’ll feel sad, lonely, bored, or just emotionally blah, and food gives me a temporary "pick-me-up."

I’m completely aware that I’m not hungry, so it doesn’t seem to be about hunger at all.

lt's more like I’m turning to food to create a little moment of enjoyment when I’m otherwise feeling emotionally blah.

blah. The problem is that I have a really hard time resisting that urge, and once I start eating, it often cascades into a binge.

Is this emotional eating? Is there some kind of dopamine/reward thing going on? Maybe I should look into anti-depressants because maybe it related to depression. Is there actually a name for this? Mostly I’m wondering: does anyone else experience this? And if so, what has helped?

Looking for anyone who might have known my mother in the San Francisco Bay Area witchcraft scene in the 1970s. She placed me for adoption, and I’d like to reconnect with her. If you were part of that community, please DM me.
