my fursuit so far!

today I finished the bodysuit padding (well it might need some tweaks but it’s more or less finished) and so I took this video with all the other suit parts! the only fully completed part right now is the tail, but the head will be very soon and I just need to line & cuff the paws :3 (i’m open to helpful critiques but please keep in mind that this is my very first fursuit, let alone bodysuit, and i’ve been working very hard on it)

(oh and ignore the fact that this is taken in my kitchen, it’s the only place with enough room rn and our house is pretty messy 😭)

how much stuffing do I need?

in terms of weight, how much polyfil/stuffing would I need to stuff the padding on my fullsuit? is 5 lbs enough? and to what squishiness should I stuff the legs? I don’t have a good enough picture but the padding shape i’ve created looks pretty much like this (photo/suit made by LucyTheKemono)

sewing techno-neoprene

i’m making the padding for my full suit out of bigZ’s techno-neoprene, and i’m a bit confused on how to sew it. do I use a stretch needle or jersey needle? also, I have both a regular sewing machine and a serger. I know sergers are better for stretchy fabric, so should I use that or just a zigzag stitch on my regular machine? I don’t really know how i’d sew up the darts on a serger machine. also, any tips or stuff that I should keep in mind while sewing this fabric? thanks!

how do I stop my rabbit from chewing on my heating pad

i’ve got one of those microwaveable heating pads and my rabbit will NOT stop chewing on it!! and he licks it too, like the area around the hole is wet with saliva and it dries into a weird texture. I know he’s probably doing it because of the smell of the heating pad. it’s filled with some kind of seeds so when it’s heated it has a bit of an odd scent to it. he also might be licking it cause it likely smells like me? he licks my blankets and stuffed animals on my bed all the time, but he’s never tried to chew threw them. in fact, he’s never had any problems chewing on things he’s not supposed to, at least not since i’ve adopted him. I try to keep it somewhere he can’t get to it when i’m not home to watch him, but I do sleep with it and sometimes it falls off the bed. when that happens, he chews a hole in it and seeds get everywhere. is there any way to discourage this behavior? i’ve had to sew up at least 10 holes in this heating pad by now (also, i’m not sure if he’s eating the seeds but I don’t think he is. I tried to put some of the seeds in front of him to see if he was trying to get to them to eat them, but he wasn’t interested.)

digitigrade padding help

I came up with this silhouette for the digitigrade padding on my fursuit i’m making. it looks nice to me but I realize that I don’t know how i’d separate it to make the padding. the plan is to create the shape from foam, make a pattern of it, and recreate it with fabric and stuffing. the foam won’t actually be in the suit padding. except for the bit on the foot that will probably be foam? all this to say, I don’t know where i’d separate the thigh/butt padding from the stuff connecting to the foot in order to make it look nice but still keep mobility. I need enough mobility to comfortably walk around a convention and hop around In a happy way because that’s how my character acts, if that makes sense? if it’s not possible on this silhouette, is there any way I can alter it to make mobility possible while still keeping a pretty plush look?

(p.s. this is my first time making a full suit and digitigrade padding, please be nice if i’ve done something wrong.)
