As Aster is encrypted like Proton or Tuta, I’m wondering if it has the ability to search content bodies of emails through a local index (like Tuta or iCloud) or whether it is subject lines only (like Proton). Currently debating on whether to use Aster as my main (likely after a third party security audit though).
I don’t like how they keep getting mixed in with each other. I don’t particularly care for inline attachments and I’m sure most others don’t either, but why not separate the two like a dropdown for inline attachments so that attachments aren’t lost in the list of inline ones? Every email will have multiple inline attachments nowadays.
Been wanting to migrate to Proton with my custom domain for a while now, but seems like local index searching for email body content is still not possible on the mobile apps. I’ve read that ability as coming in the 2025 summer refreshes but it hasn’t come and there’s still no sign of it coming anytime soon.
I made the mistake of updating my extension manually instead of letting Mac do it itself when it pleases, and now the UI has changed. I’m generally fine with UI changes but this UI’s performance is very slow! What gives?
Doing anything takes 1-2 seconds to actually do because there’s some weird “input lag” from clicking a button to having the extension actually do it.
On top of that, everything runs super slowly at what seems like 5 frames per second. It feels like it’s using too many resources and it can’t handle it, but I can’t confirm if that’s actually what it’s doing. I turned animations off which helps with the really slow laggy animations (and I wouldn’t mind them if they weren’t so laggy), but the weird input lag from clicking an entry to it actually opening an entry is still there with or without the animation. Even if you have animation enabled, there is still that weird 1-2 second delay.
What happened? This is on a MacBook Pro M1 14”.
6 months ago Zilch added Zilch Plus for £3.99 a month - didn't seem worth it so after the free trial I cancelled.
Now I check the app and I see another: Zilch Extra for £2.99 a month, this one is even worse value as it doesn't even give you access to the higher cashback, but rather only Open Banking for "more credit and smarter offers" and priority customer support...
Somehow even more pointless than Zilch Plus.
