How to get over awkwardness as a new CNA?

Okay before you say it I know I’m gonna have to get over it eventually. I’ve always been awkward, quiet and never knowing what to say. I want to get over it and my goal is to be a registered nurse. It’s not that I’m scared of talking to people I’m more scared of saying the wrong thing. I got hired at a hospital already and start September 7th. My question is what are some questions you ask residents / patients to get to talking. Is there anything you should try and avoid talking about? What do you normally say to get people talking or get yourself talking. I’ve already learned the “talk through your skills” and things like that but I know that people are talked to about the skills constantly and probably already know what you’re doing, I know it can vary but that’s not the point I’m just assuming that a majority of people would rather talk about something else. I know other people can be quiet and awkward too but I just want everyone to be comfortable I don’t want people to have a bad experience with me. Advice?

So it’s not like I’m completely lazy and don’t do anything, I feel like I just don’t want to do boring stuff or things I don’t necessarily HAVE to do. Like I’m not chronically absent from school or work, I haven’t called off work a single time this year and only 4-5 other times besides that (I’ve had the same job for 3yrs) and I only have 2 unexcused absences from school just from waking up late. I have good grades because I know I have to do my homework.

My problem is I don’t wanna clean my room/house unless someone’s coming over, don’t feel like cleaning out my car unless I’m gonna have people in it, when I get home from school I just wanna sleep or lay down until I have to go to work, i always procrastinate assignments til last minute. I go out all the time but I just don’t wanna do anything I don’t wanna do I guess. And I know life isn’t all about what you want but I do want a clean room, I want to not have to worry about assignments last minute. But in the moment when I know I need to do it and I’m actually thinking about it I just don’t want to at all. On my days off I don’t even know what to do with myself if I don’t have money or the means to go out so I just sit home and end up wasting my day. I go to the gym sometimes when i genuinely want to, but i always find some kind of excuse when I don’t like I wanna save my gas or I need to clean but I never end up cleaning anyways. I just don’t understand why I cant get my ass up and clean or do laundry or dishes or anything. Any tips ?
