Not Every Spring is *Needed*, Right?!

Not Every Spring is *Needed*, Right?!

Sigh. I know the new-to-me typewriter it came out of, but not the WHERE/WHAT of it.
So far, everything I know to check is working correctly, and random typings (vs specific function checks) have revealed no new secrets.

I am pretending that this spring went missing whilst in previous hands, and someone simply replaced it with another.

(sigh)

Stiff Line Spacer Question, complete with "Vintage Aesthetics"

As unhappily encountered when searching for information:

Turns out, strategic vintage backlighting and extra fingers are key when tackling a, er, Jimery(?-- AI garble 🙄) machine.

Be careful out there, folks. 🤣

Question: is there something specific to clean and perhaps even (gasp) oil, if the line spacing ratchet function is stiff in a way that it doesn't engage with initial carriage arm pressure, and one needs carriage travel/better leverage to activate it? Is more a feel thing than function issue, the spacing works once enough gentle pressure is applied.
