Hi everyone! I'd like to introduce you to my little orange love. He woke up this morning in the mood for lots of cuddles. 🧡🐈
How a Simple Note Changed Someone's Mondays
I work at a small café, and there’s an elderly man who comes in every Monday at exactly the same time.
He always orders a black coffee and sits at the same table. He never talks to anyone.
One day, I decided to leave a small sticky note on his coffee cup wishing him a good Monday.
The following week, there was a reply waiting for me. He thanked me and said I had made his Monday feel a little less heavy.
That’s how it started.
Every Monday, we left little notes for each other.
He would tell me small things about his week. Sometimes he wrote about missing his late wife. Other times he told me about a beautiful sunset he had seen or something funny his granddaughter had done.
I answered with doodles, bad jokes, and little words of encouragement.
We never exchanged names.
Then one Monday, he didn’t show up.
His table stayed empty all morning, and I couldn’t stop worrying about him.
The next week, he returned carrying a box of cookies and a note explaining that he had been in the hospital, but that he planned to keep coming every Monday for as long as he could.
Months went by.
One morning, he handed me an envelope.
Inside was a letter.
He wrote that he didn’t know who I was, but that our little notes had turned Mondays, once the hardest day of his week, into his favorite day.
He thanked me for being kind.
He still comes to the café.
We still leave notes for each other.
We still don’t know each other’s names.
And somehow, that’s perfectly okay.
Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness become the most meaningful friendships.
