What does ‘emotional stabilisation’ mean re: talking therapies?

I received a call today from the Talking Therapies NHS service after completing two assessments. They asked for consent to pass my case on to an ‘interface meeting’ as I need ‘emotional stabilisation’ before I can commence a formal therapy such as CBT. Apparently the ‘interface meeting’ will be between different healthcare teams to see what the ‘next steps’ might be. The person on the phone then said after the interface meetings are completed, I can re-refer myself for the Talking Therapies service if required, but implied that my emotional state would not be supported by current therapy options provided by Talking Therapies.

I’m new to the professional mental health care world so would really appreciate some help on what this might entail.

Difficulty ‘remembering’ how bad my mental state has been in the moment has prevented me from seeking treatment - anybody else?

Does anyone else experience what I could call ‘mood amnesia’? At 25 I’m seeking proper psychological help for the first time in 17 years of intermittent poor mental health. When I’m in the depths of a ‘spiral’ I feel completely lost and desperately want to seek help. However, I’ll ‘snap out of it’ anywhere from a few hours to a few days after, and then it’s almost as if I’m completely unable to remember how bad it felt, kind of comparable to how I’ve heard the real trauma of labour is almost forgotten in the moment of holding your newborn baby.
It’s made it almost impossible to seek help up until this point as unless I’m ‘in a slump’ I’m convinced I’m absolutely able to cope (until the spiral begins again). Now I’m signing up for therapy and medication it incurs massive feelings of embarrassment and worry that I’m ‘attention seeking’, but my logical brain is telling me that if I am desperately and repetitively wanting help in these moments, it’s sensible to try and seek it before I hit 30 with no proper coping mechanisms.

Just wondered if anybody else feels this ‘amnesia’ - almost like there are two parts of my brain fighting for dominance - as I’ve not seen it mentioned anywhere before.

I AM DELIBERATE AND AFRAID OF NOTHING [ANALOG]

Stamped text from an Audre Lorde quote with a vintage horror magazine image - I washed the ink off the image after using it for a gelprint and then repurposed it here. Would love to see if anybody else experiments with aged / weathered / 'discarded' images, intentionally or not.

anti-ai collage triptych [ANALOG]

Text from a 2025 meme adaptation (1/3) I've seen around of an original 1979 IBM training manual quote (2/3) + erasure version.
Images from 'Camera Obscura: A Journal of Feminism and Film Theory' (1989), 'The Ascent of Man' (1973), and 'The Movies' (1964). Backing paper from 'Sappho: 14 Poemes' (1944).

I post my collages at foundburrows on IG.
