Randy and Alexandra Eckhart changed their wedding plans after their dog, Bella Rose, was diagnosed with a serious illness.
Instead of holding their ceremony in New Mexico as originally planned, they chose to get married at a veterinary clinic in Colorado so Bella could be there with them.
Under local regulations, Bella Rose was able to be part of the ceremony in a unique way. She acted as a witness and even “officiated” the wedding by leaving her paw print on the marriage certificate.
For the couple, the decision was about making sure their dog remained part of an important moment in their lives, especially given her condition.
Not long after the ceremony, Bella Rose passed away. In her memory, the couple later adopted another puppy, continuing the bond that shaped their decision that day.
