Lucky Duck!

Lucky Duck!

Husband ran to Kroger, came home and all casually drops a little pile of foreign coins and a silver dime in front of me. While I'm checking out the coins he sneakily slides the Walking Liberty in front of me. I nearly fell over. I love this man, he always checks the Coinstar for me everywhere he goes.

I found this sub now I'm more confused than ever, please help!!

Found a badass patio sofa with awesome lines at a garage sale covered in white paint that was chipping off with crappy cushion covers (geometric grey and white.....thanks fellow millennial people for ruining beautiful things with weird textiles and chalk painting the hell out of everything). Garage sale person let me pull apart a cushion cover, found the original vintage cushion covers, striped fabric and naugahyde, in pristine condition. So of course, that sofa went home with me for $20.

Got it home, took all the cushion covers off, took the metal frame apart, applied one coat of citristrip gel, got impatient, removed it too soon, and have to do it again. Some of the pieces are too big to fit in the sandblaster cabinet, so I'll be doing more citristrip gel. I will have all the original paint off prior to applying anything.

Anyhow, I was researching what type of primer and paint to utilize, I need something to hold up to real life use. Was feeling pretty confident in a few choices, stumbled across this sub, and now I'm more confused than ever. PLEASE, BESTOW YOUR WISDOM UPON ME, OH WISE PAINT FOLKS!!

I have family in the trades, lots of handy guys who are always helping me with whatever projects I drag home wanting to restore to their original beauty. They have sprayers and all sorts of things, but no paint booth (however I'm sure they could quickly throw one together in the shop).

Oh, pretty sure it's steel, magnet zipped right to it, not heavy enough to be iron. Surprisingly, not a lick of rust on her, which is great.

Shooting for a dark brown color as this was the original color. What primer, paint, top coat, or any combination thereof would be best? What are the proper steps for application? Best practice methods for application? Dry times? Specific brands to utilize?

I feel like a real shit jumping in here with so many questions, but this sub had so many answers in my search for knowledge. Just having a hard time figuring out which answers are for me. Any help would be super appreciated, many thanks in advance.
