Fex and Lepton receive multiple updates over the last day!

Upwards to nine updates for lepton! Seems like there's some pretty big movement happening behind the scenes. Very reminiscent of just before the launch of the steam machine

Absolutely no way this thing Launches on a Wednesday right? Right?

Matteo311 posts a potentially new video showing stream frame hardware

Has anyone seen this video before? Maybe it was in some of his previous coverage of the steam frame, but I've not personally seen it and I can't quite recall. If this is new footage that he's just produced, it kind of raises some questions. It looks like his studio in the background I think, maybe someone who knows his content better will be able to know

EDIT: He just told steam hardware to dm him when asking about the video....

E2: seems like that based on the used look of the controllers, and the fact that he's actively developing a game, it's most likely a dev kit. Pour one out for tomorrow

E3: wamboot with the source find https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamFrame/s/CfGj3NIv4i

Komodo Station starts controller sales on Tuesday Augest 4th, 10am (JST), almost definitely ruling out a Steam Frame Monday release next week...

For those who don't know, this is the time that the machine and controller went live when they were released. on Tuesday morning in Japan. It's very likely they would not do double duty with controller and frame, because the sales they did recently for restocking the controllers caused the site traffic to make a queue of a couple hours.

I know some will say this has 'nothing to do with valve' and I would like to agree with that, but this is their Asian based sales partner, and they would know if it was releasing on Monday, and would very likely make room for it. I wanted to believe that the FCC cert made it a likely next week release, but it seems we have a bit more to go.

It was not expected today, but Tested has posted a video 30 minutes ago.

I am in pain, send help steam frame

I will say, being able to just check that channel to see if they post at this time, is a very convenient way to not have to check everything everywhere all the time...

What order would you play these games on Frame PCVR?

I figure if there is any group of people that would know which 'simpler' games to start with first, and which to save for last, it would be the unhinged lot checking SteamFrame everyday... like myself.

I figure Subnautica and HL:A should probably be last, and likely the lab and maybe trover first, but other than these ideas, I don't have a clue, since I've not played any of them...

it's going to be July 9th or 27th

I was looking at the fests and sales events from this year, and the majority of them started on a monday. however occasionally there are exceptions, and they start fests or events on a thursday. I didn't look at previous years, so if someone knows better they can correct me, but it seems like they do not start things outside of Monday or Thursday.

the current sale will end on July 9th, which gives them an opportunity to announce the steam frame on that day, for the last day of sales, or potentially get extra freaky, and announce it the day after. this would give them time to have the banner up for a few days, before the next fast. the banner was only up for a few days with the other two products, so wouldn't be too unusual.

if not the 9th, the only other day this month that has an open slot is the 27th, which also happens to be a Monday. I think it's a bit more likely it'll be on the 27th, as painful as that is to think about. seems like they're still working through software stuff, and they were pretty major rumors about review devices being out there just before the machine came out, which we don't have yet about the frame. so it seems like we're still a few weeks away.

anyway, just casually losing my mind over here pouring over dates, stay sane out there exiles, I mean framers

2160 x 2160 vr vs 2560 × 1440 monitor performance

i was wondering if it is possible to test some games now and see what fps i can get on them to get an expectation if I'll be able to run them in vr at 90-120 fps or not. how does the performance of these two resolutions compare? I wonder how many frames I lose going from my 1440p monitor to the steam frames 2160 resolution. maybe I can spend time now tweaking settings to get a solid frame rate, rather than doing it once I have my headset

Thoughts on this high-end intel/nvidia build plan

Ram prices are brutal right now, so I'm not sure if I'll build now or wait. I hope prices go down, but between that and prices for gpu, ssd, maybe ram increasing, seemed like it might be worth putting an idea of a build together.

I'm coming from an intel 10700k and 3080. It's been fine, but I also use it as a video editing workstation, as well play games as my main hobby. Having the extra power would be great on both fronts, and I am planning to sell the computer to help offset the new build. I've got an extra ssd I'll put with it, so no need to get something new there.
