Once Kitae started using Power mastery he started pressuring James and took control of the fight.James had to use his path to turn around the situation and caught Kitae off guard which forced Kitae to use his own path.

gotta give james some strength output glaze, before all this (the fight with tom and gitae), a lot of us(atleast from what ive seen) thought of james as having inferior ap/dc to absolute freak monsters like gun,gitae, etc. but the fight with tom completely turned that, remember that tom is one of biggest, bulkiest, tanky mf in the series but never once he commented that james fists or kicks are light despite james utilizing only speed mastery most of the time and the fight gitae just proved it even more how destrcutive james can be

now you could argue, james is weaker back then, but i highly highly doubt this would take james out, theres just a huge gap in power ceiling
