Does my kimchi has enough "kimchi juice" or is it very dry?

Hey! Im the one that made salty kimchi, and im glad to inform that i fixed that, yaaay 🎉, i just added more daikon. Now haha... I faced another problem 😅

Well, the first day of fermentarion, since it has a looot of salt, the kimchi realesed a lot of juice, like, a lot, everytime i opened a jar, the jar will just leak a lot of juice everywhere that i had to clean. So.... I just decided to sump the juice out cause i figured normaly kimchi doesn't get that much juice.

But now i face a probable problem... What if having juice is actually normal to some extent and i just removed a lot of it.

I hate that im just creating more problems xD but well... Good news are that my kimchi is now edible and really delicious

How salty should kimchi be on day 1? It has a good flavour but a really strong punch of salt. Not as salty as soy sauce but still very salty. Is it ruined?

I know that kimchi is supposed to be salty and that with fermentation the salt flavour goes down.

But like... My batch is really really salty, so much so that is overwhelming. If you were to try my kimchi right know you will be like "oh it taste really goo... Oh wait is very salty 🤮"

Like it tastes good, ive surprise myself opening the lid and grabbing some, but each time i try it im like "damn is so salty, i dont like that at all" like it ruins the experience and flavour to a piint of making it unedible

Like, i just make the comparison with soy sauce and is definitely not as salty as soy sauce, but still salty enought to make it uncomfortable to eat, which i think it shouldnt be the case because theres people that eat it straight from day one, so, is mine ruined?

Is my napa good?

In both the dark spots that it has, and its color, ive seen napas that are greener and this one looks very white, and about the dark spots... Is that bad? Should i remove those spots?

Natto with sauerkraut, black garlic and salsa macha

Honestly, you start to like natto taste after you try it for a few days, is quite strong but not as bad as you could initially thought, and is even better if you combine it with other things haha

Is it normal for the surface of my kefir to look yellowish?

Every batch i made turns like this but when i collect my grains the overall kefir incorporates and turns white, the last image is how the grains look

First time making it was succesful! It could have had more strings but thats ok haha

I think i made a bad desition, a mistake... Or several i dont know... Will it still ferment?

Edit: i did watch tutorials, my final questions are if theres suppose to be strings and smell at the 10 hours because mine doesnt have any of those, and if it was wrong that i added more spores after 10 hours and wheter i should ferment it more time since i added new spores

First time doing natto, im making it in the instant pot, i bought starters eith 1 gram per bag, im making 400 grams of natto.

I had a jar sterilize and put one bag of the starter with some of the water of the steamed beans, it was plenty of water like, mmm lets say 6 spoons... Or more.

And then i just put that water to the beans, all of it but i had the beans in one of these strainers, so i assume there was no problem with that.

But at 10 hours of fermenting, it really didnt amell bad at all and ive heard the smell should be really strong, there is a smell of something but i really wouldnt call it a bad smell?

And then i checked the beans and they dont seem like they are fermenting, they dont have sliminess at all, i dont know if they should at these stage.

What i proceed to do next is boild more water, a bit more, put it in another sterile jar i had, and put another bag of the starter and added it into the beans.

What did i do wrong? There could probably be many mistakes i did and i want some guidence i will really appreciate it.

Theres many questions i have of what could be wrong with what im doing.

How much grams of starter should there be?

When i mix the starter i did it with the water of the beans but it was already not warm enough and ive hear is better if you put them in boiled water to activate spores. So, is that a problem?

Is it bad that i mix a lot of water with the atarter even if the beans are in a strainer?

Should there be smell and strings in the ferment at a 10 hour mark?

Is it bad that i put another starter pack at 10 hour mark? I think this was my biggest mistake but to be fair i thought it wasnt going to ferment... But was it? I dont even know if its normal that it didnt seem to be fermenting at this time

Haha... Will it still ferment?

Im fermenting it with the setting of sous vide at 108 F, and i checked with a thermometer and the beans are at a temperature of 104

I want to supplement with omega 3, and wanted to purch a fish oil supplement, but i found one brand that makes a supplement with algae, which ive heard is not as good, but the brand claims its the best way to take omega because its "5 times more bioavailable designed with german biotechnology" but im very skeptical.

Why is yeesyle not showing the reviews of a product? Or is Google wrong and there's no reviews?

I ordered this product 21 days ago... aaaand yeestyle has not got it to send it yet, is frustrating, but well, I thought that it was only natural for a product that has no reviews, they probably dont get it in stock because if a product is not sell, they will not have it there, so i decided to check if any other website has it to order it from there, only to find out that google shows that yeestyle has reviews of the product.

There was a reformulation i think, very recently, so maybe yeestyle just deleted all reviews to treat the reformulation like a different new product?

Or maybe google is lying to you and it never had reviews, i dont know

Just something intersting that i wanted to ask

Is this creator safe?

I was interested in watching a sub of these creator because the comments of that sub seems to have gotten a lot of benefits, which I want haha

u/sweat_Goat5991 — 1 month ago

In terms of benefits, do I cover all the healthy benefits just with these ferments or which other ones do you recommend?

I want to ferment because of the benefits that the ferments can give you, both the probiotics or other benefits like the nattokinasa or vitamin K of the natto, I've also heard that there's ferments that don't really give you much healthy benefits and is just done because of the flavour which is good but for my case in particular I don't think is worth the hassle if is just for the flavor althou I respect the act of fermenting because is beautiful and relaxing

I am doing:

  • Kefir
  • Sauerkraut
  • kimchi
  • Natto

I used to do kombucha and water kefir but I've heard is not as beneficial as other ferments... Is that so?, i love those ferments, really elegant for me and has a cool feel to drink them but again, I don know if I really want to spend the time doing it if it doesn't bring much healthy benefits and I prefer to just drink it without me doing it haha, I'm already taking doing coffee and matcha as one of those relaxing hobbys and the other ferments I'm doing also take time and I love it is pretty cool, but yeah, I'm wondering if you think there's also other ferments worth fermenting in my case.

I really hope my post doesn't come across as offensive or rude, is a wonderful thing to do to ferment, I just won't do ferments that are not as beneficial because of time but I respect the hobby in of itself and for me it has a beautiful elegance, I honestly would love to have friends that ferment kombucha to exchange my fermenta with them while we talk and eat and drink those ferments enjoying our time haha

Edit:

I forgot to mention I also will be eating

  • yogurt L. reuteri
  • miso soup

both have good benefits it seems, the yogurt one sadly is hard to ferment due to the bacteria not having the ability to do so as much as other bacterias. and the miso one well I just bought it already done, but it will be nice to know of other ferments like these that are healthy

Has someone followed this vegan kimchi recipe? According to the creator, is the best kimchi she has tried, so I'm curious

Instead of fish sauce it used a home made sauce made with a combination of mushrooms to give that umami flavour and kombu algae and soy sauce.

I just want to know if it goes badly more quickly. This recipe ferments one day outside and 4 inside the fridge.

How long do you usually ferment kimchi? I've heard is usually only one or two days outside, and several days in the fridge.

Has anybody tried to use this machine to ferment natto?

I bought the garlic one by accident, this brand has two machines, the first one that only ferments garlic, and the second one that is multifunctional.

Yeah i know is a pretty dumb mistake, im already beating myself for it, but im still hopeful that it will work for natto because one of the reviews for the product said that is the best natto fermenter that he has bought, which is odd because he bought the garlic one.

I'm mad xD, more at myself than at the product, but im still mad at the product, it doesnt let you adjust the temperature at all, like whaaaat?!?! It left me speachless, it just automatically fluctuates between different temperatures for the garlic, which yeah i guess thats fair comming from an only garlic fermenter machine. But come oooon, let it at least have that option xD, but nah, i can only hopelessly watch as it cooks my natto.

Pleaaase someone tell me is actually possible to fermenter natto xd otherwise my day will be ruined HAHA, i know os pretty unlikely but i still have hope xd, i think natto ferments at 40°C to 45°C (104°F to 113°F). And this machine with a frustrating unadjustable temperature (whyyy would they not have that optioooon) runs up to 80°C the first day according to the manual, not really sure because if i turn it on it runs at 35°C right away.

(By the way i know that black garlic is not technically a ferment, is just cooked garlic but very slowly, i fell like i have to clarify it or else many will want to correct me on that xd, which is good because is a pretty commun mistake)

Which of these shaving creams work the best for you to prevent irritation?

  1. Nivea Men Sensitive Shaving Gel.
  2. Nivea Men Sensitive Shaving Cream.
  3. Aveeno Theraputic Shave Gel.

Do you have any advice or tips as to not get irritated besides having a any of these creams? Do you know of any other product that would make your skin less reactive when you shave? Any help will be appreciated!

Which of these shaving creams work the best for you to prevent irritation?

So, I was shaving with pretty poor technics, and everytime that I shave my skin gets a lot of irritation, so I just toped shaving all together and only shave once a month but no matter what I always got a bad reaction, and well yeah no wonder, i pretty much was doing everything wrong, I finally decided to get a safe razor, and I will get a brush with a bowl, but I still don't know which cream or gel or soup would be better to avoid irritations.

What product would you recommend for skin that's extremely sensitive and that could get irritated very easily?

Would you recommend a product that I didn't put in here instead? Any advice or tips will be really appreciated!

Is it better for you to have a pure L. reuteri yogurt or to have it be mixed with other bacterias? Will they compete a lot?

I want to make L. reuteri yogurt for the claimed benefits it has but I bought one with other bacterias on it so I worry about the competition that they'll have wondering if that means the benefits will not be as pronounced, or if in reality they all will help each other out in a simbiotic relationship
