Help! Aphids? Mealybugs? Both?!

Hi everyone. I inherited this tropical hibiscus plant from my late grandmother, and it’s very sentimental to me. I was watering it this evening and noticed little bugs on the buds of the plant. I’ve had aphids in another one of my tropical hibiscus plants and eradicated it with neem oil. Please help me eradicate these bugs and save my plant! Which bugs are on this hibiscus? I have a variety of plant chemicals (see photos) at my house, should I use one of these or another kind of treatment? Thank you again!!

Recent Vera Bradley Finds

I wanted to show off my finds from a recent trip I went on with my boyfriend! We went to West Virginia to visit New River Gorge National Park and stopped at some thrift stores around there and in Charleston, WV where our hotel was. I got a few more VB items for my mom and sister, but they have already claimed them. These are my finds! I was ecstatic about finding the rolling duffel bag in nearly perfect condition for $7.99! That was also my most expensive item, as most others were either $2 or $3.50! I also love the variety of patterns that I found too. I have been a Vera Bradley collector for many years and I always get a rush finding it out in the wild!

Help me save my hibiscus plant!

I inherited this tropical hibiscus plant from a very special late family friend about a year ago. We have been in a heat wave for the last week or so in Georgia and it’s started turning a lot of the leaves yellow. It’s a big tree- like variety. I’ve already picked off a lot of the yellow leaves in the first photo. I attached a photo at the end of what some of the leaves I picked off looked like. I water this plant until water comes out of the bottom of the pot once a day in the morning, while the plant is still shaded. The plant gets 6+ hours of direct sunlight a day. I am using a regular store bought soil. Is this due to it being stressed about the very hot temperatures? Is it due to nutrient deficiency? Is it a watering issue? Can it be due to pests? Thank you for all of your help!

Why do my hibiscus blooms look like this?

This is a perennial hardy hibiscus plant that I’ve had outside its whole life. It’s winterized outdoors as well. It gets watered when the top soil is dry and gets full sun on my deck. It was growing beautifully and I was just outside watering it and noticed some buds looked as if they were prematurely opening as dying and they are discolored. There is one healthy bloom coming out at the front. The leaves also appear to be crispy and discolored. This is my favorite plant in my collection, what can I do to help it get back to being healthy?! Right before I watered it, there were little white spots beginning to come onto the plant, and they were on its neighboring plant too. Is this the cause of a pest? Thank you again!

Used Bath Towel Donations

Hi all! I recently purged through my older bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths. They’re still in good condition, but I just have too many of them. I was looking for a place to donate the towels that wasn’t a thrift store, possibly a veterinarians office, rescue or place that helps people in need. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions! Thanks!

Little Bugs on Columbine Plant?

Hi all. I’m outside watering my plants and I just realized that there are what appear to be dead little bugs on the stalks of my Columbine flower. Is this an infestation? Any idea how to remedy this? Thank you in advance. The plant gets full sun, and watering every other day. I’m using a regular perlite/potting soil mix.

Hi all! I got a pink philodendron from my local community gifting page. The previous owner had it planted in a 5in clear nursery pot and had a moss pole on it. I added another extension to the moss pole today, but now the plant is top heavy and wants to tip over. I have it sitting in a heavier pot now temporarily, but I’m looking for advice on how to keep it from tipping over. Do I repot the plant and moss pole into a larger pot? Or is there another method recommended? I am brand new to moss poles too. Thank you in advance!

Hi all! I’ve had this pineapple plant about a year. It’s somehow three separate plants, but they all share the same root system. They have been large and healthy since I got them last spring, and one produced fruit last April too. I noticed today some browning on the outer leaves of the plants, which has never happened before. The plant was transplanted about a month ago into a larger pot. I’ve been watering it when the soil is dry. Please let me know your thoughts on why the leaves are browning! Generally, I’ve been told to only worry when the inner leaves start to turn yellow and brown, as that’s new growth, but I want to stay on the precautionary side. The plant is on my deck in a partial sun/partial shade spot, with more sun than shade. Thank you!
