struggling with the "flaws" of the bible

I am new to the faith and have been reading up on how to approach the bible. I know the bible was written throughout 1500 years (longer when considering the old testament) by several authors who had their own human perceptions/biases, etc. And on top of that it's translated by people who will inevitably approach it with their own beliefs. I think acting like the bible can't be "contaminated" and is meant to be taken literally is ridiculous.

But taking all that into consideration, I feel like I don't have much to hold onto. Because if the bible isn't God's word in pure form, faith just feels like I'm holding onto oral storytelling from thousands of years ago. Has anyone else struggled with this? How do you approach it?

Question for monks: What do you hope the afterlife is like?

I'm not too sure if there are really any monks on the Christianity subreddit, but incase there is, I've been really curious: What does someone who dedicates their whole life to prayer and worship hope the afterlife is like? Do you try to rid yourself of expectations?

using the lochby daily folio for my supernote and notebook

I wanted to share for anyone with a similar use case. The Lochby daily folio works great for the supernote nomad. I put in some small magnets on the left side to keep it in place and the Rhodia no. 16 notebook fits perfectly into the pocket on the right side, so it's a perfect setup to take notes while I'm reading (I mainly use my supernote as an e-reader.)

I used a Leuchtturm pen loop to keep the Supernote pen attached, and there's still room for an additional thin notebook in there too.

Looking for advice on how to approach the bible

Hey everyone. This is probably a somewhat frequent question on here. I've very recently joined a church after about 10 years of atheism. I've been trying to read the bible and I can get past "unscientific" literature like Genesis because I know it's meant to be more metaphorical than literal, but I'm heaving difficulty with other parts, mostly the "cruel" aspects. Such as the genocide and Canaanites etc.

In short, my question is for any bible scholars who do believe. How do you interpret the "immoral" parts of the book. I'm a very science driven humanist, believe in universal salvation etc. Are there any resources or books you can recommend for someone looking to make sense of the old testament specifically?

Book Reccomendation: Finding God in the Waves

This book was recommended to me by one of the great priests at my church who I bug with questions nonstop. I've been atheist/antiheist for basically the past 10 years. This book felt me seen like no other has and the author has the same thought process I do. It's helped me to believe and come to terms with unanswered questions. I just wanted to share for anyone else whose belief in science has hindered their faith.

I really mean it when it's helped more than any sermon, consult or scripture reading has.

Do I need an OTI license as a 4PL

Hey everyone, I'm kind of confused on whether or not I need an OTI license as a 4PL. I don't own or operate anything, I just want to be able to arrange ocean shipments with freight forwarders for customers. I haven't been able to get a straight answer.

Advice on client portal options

Hi everyone. I'm starting my own small logistics service and need help decising on where to host my customer portal.

I want customers to be able to log in, view their active loads, past loads, billing information etc. But the main priority is that they're able to get tracking updates. I could probably input links and let them click in there to get updates, but I would really rather they're able to see all updates at once. So basically, I want a client portal that can pull information from Macropoint to update the information on the portal.

Not sure how to go about this and by far it's the main hurdle in my way. Just looking for some direction on what's possible.

Looking for advice on online creators to follow

Hi everyone, I'm new to Christianity as whole (muslim immigrant) so I'm very lost on prayer and basic concepts. I've been searching my questions online and looking on youtube for prayer guidances but I can never be too sure on who actually aligns with my beliefs.

I'm queer and leftist and a lot of Christian content is off putting to me. I'm having trouble navigating it all. Is there any Episcopal blogs/channels you guys reccomend? Preferably someone who is actually a clergy member and has articles/videos easy to digest for someone who's unfamiliar.

how to make a search bar for the different sheets in an excel workbook

Hi everyone. At my job we have one excel workbook that has 150+ sheets in it. To navigate to the sheet we want, there's a main page with all the names of the sheets typed out and we have to find them ourselves to click into the sheet to get the information we want. The time it takes to do this really builds up sometimes.

Is there a way to make a search bar so we can just type the name of the sheet we want and automatically be taken to it?

Questions about heaven and reunion

Hi everyone. I recently lost my bovfriend to suicide. He was 22. It's been devastating to me and I've turned to religion for comfort but I wasn't religious before, and grew up Muslim, so l'm lost on a lot of subiects.

I've been thinking about the afterlife a lot and the passage of time. I know there's no definite answer but can't help but think about things like:

What if I die when I'm 70 and he's still 22? Will it be weird?

If I die when I'm 70 will I be old and wrinkled and he'll stil be a 22 vear old bombshell? Or do I get to be whatever version I want?

Does time pass linear in heaven so we'll still be the same age?

Is he cheating on me in heaven? Should I cheat back?

Are either of us going to forget and stop loving each other after however long we'll be apart?

Do any of these questions even matter?

I know there's no specific answer and these are silly, arbitrary questions. I guess I really just want to hear wha other people think about this stuff and discuss it.

FTM transition time - 10 months on t + top surgery + hip/trunk liposuction (censored pictures)

Hi everyone, I wanted to make a post on my transition so far. I've been on T for about 10 months and got double mastectomy and hip liposuction with Dr. Okada in Columbus 2-3 weeks ago. I wasn't really able to find anyone who also had both surgeries at the same time so I wanted to offer a space to ask questions if anyone else is also interested in this route.

Also wanted to give hope to anyone like me who was dealt a very feminine body. I never thought I could look like I do now.
