Help me out after demo
I did a demo at the Apple Store yesterday because I’m considering buying a used M2 version. I’ve had multiple VR headsets and XR glasses like Viture and XReal but have been thinking of getting in the game. The demo was cool, but I’ve seen 360 video before so that wasn’t too interesting to me, I mostly wanted to see how good the display is, I think the coolest part for me was the 3 seconds of Yankees footage the demo showed. Anyway It’s definitely the best display I’ve ever seen in a headset or glasses, there is 0 visible screen door effect. However, compared to my XR Viture glasses, I would say the image quality experience of flat content (even though the glasses are only 1080p) is comparable. Yes I know I can’t move the screen around or do immersive environments, I’m just talking about the experience of looking at a big screen visually. I don’t think it’s worth the cost for that alone.
Having said all of that, I’m still torn. It was not the “best viewing experience” I’ve ever seen like I was expecting but maybe my expectations were too high. Perhaps if the price was closer to the $1500 for a used one, I would be more willing to pull the trigger.
Other random mullings
- it was smaller and lighter than expected
- brightness was good in a very bright store
- pass through was also just ok / fine, but it was bright environment
- the AC/DC video did absolutely nothing for me lol
Just a few random thoughts after the demo….ill hang up and listen.
