This is a for all you vets, active or reservist of all branches. Don’t downplay the experiences of those currently onboard. Many who have never been on a carrier will “I’ve been deployed to Iraq for 2 years it wasn’t that bad” have no idea the luxury you did have. Many of you had the luxury of being on land. Some of you had the luxury of getting evac’d out of a situation concerning medical or family emergencies. Many of you had the luxury Contacting family whenever you pleased from early days of the war on terror and now. You have the luxury of contacting your loved ones that you might not make it through the night from incoming rounds from the opposing force. That you might die in a few hours or minutes. These sailors DO NOT have this luxury. They cannot contact their parents, spouses or kids should things go south. Given the state of this conflict and the country back home, these loved ones probably won’t even find out what happened to their sailor until weeks or months later. For those who don’t understand, during operations we go through things like BanCon, Screaming Eagle, River city, PEDCon which basically means No communication with anyone outside the ship. This can occur anywhere from hours to days to weeks on end, constantly. Instead of downplaying their situation, support them, speak out. I’ve done 5 deployments which 2 were in support of Inherent Resolve and it was never to this magnitude. Please support as best as you can.

Just wanted to share my experience.

TL;DR: My Legacy is my personal maintenance car and I replaced my window motor regulator.

After 5 hours I finally replaced the window motor myself. The hardest part was removing the 2 bolts that attach to the window because it was stuck in the up position (with a 10mm open wrench). To get it off the hooks I used a dremel to cut those off. I ended up paying 350$ from the dealership for the motor because online ($250) I would’ve waited till next week and I got tired of opening my door for basic things. Dealer quoted 1200 overall, saved 850$. Best thing about my 2018 Legacy is it’s basically an outback so when my 2025 outback decides to get old over the years i know what i’m doing. Next step is replacing the FWD/AFT differential oil.

So Boat CMC just came on the 1MC (08MAY26 at 0810) and said that if we take more than 2 sandwiches out the galley we will be taken to security for “Stealing” and charged with theft. The fact that the galley is rationing food out here while it is a 1 month det is asinine. What is more shocking is getting threatened with a theft charge for taking food that is automatically deducted from our LES. How is that even legal at this point. The S2 department didn’t order enough food and the leadership of the boat is failing.
