Female narrator looking for male duet/dual partner

With the increasing number of auditions I’m seeing asking for a male/female narrating team, I’m looking for a male narrator to collab with.

I’ve been voice acting for several years and have a professional set up and a Whisper Room booth. Looking for someone with similar experience and sound quality.

Here’s my website with some samples if you wanted to take a listen https://laylafatima.com/

Let me know if you feel like we’re a good fit! Thanks!

Include author in the credits if they narrate “letter to reader”?

This is the first time I’ve had the author narrate any part of a book I’ve worked on so wasn’t sure how I was supposed to go about the opening and closing credits. The author had chosen to narrate the “letter to the reader” and “acknowledgments” portions. So for the credits do I say it per usual

  1. “written by (author’s name) and narrated by (my name)”

or do I include the author in the narrated portion as well? Such as

  1. “written by (author’s name) and narrated by (my name) and the author”

Advice on hiring animator for YouTube without being insulting?

I’m not an animator, I’m an outsider, but I wanted your advice.

I have an idea for a YouTube channel with animated infographic type content. I used to work in the NICU and I noticed there’s not really digestible content out there that informs and helps prepare parents for what to expect. To most people, the NICU is a scary and foreign place. I wanted to help ease that fear. I would write and do the voiceover, but I’m completely hopeless at the animating part.

Now I know this doesn’t sound like a lucrative endeavor. It’s a passion project, I don’t have the ability to pay currently, and there’s really no guarantee this channel would even be successful enough to earn funds in the future.

I totally get it. As a voice actor, if someone came to me with this offer, I’d likely turn it down. My art isn’t free and I need to pay the bills. But this is where I’m stuck. I feel passionate about this idea and do need an animator, but also recognize this offer is kind of insulting.

In your opinion, how do you feel is the best way to go about this?

For context I’m in the U.S. I’ve been hearing a lot of advice in regards to avoiding the Union until you’re forced to join. But on the flip side also hearing if you’re good enough to get hired on a Union job then you’re good enough to join the Union.

However, I’m remote and have no plans to move to LA. So because of that, I’ve been avoiding auditioning for anything Union, under the assumption that you’re screwed if you’re remote in the union. But I guess I wanted to clarify how true this was? Should I still try to audition for Union jobs while being remote?

I’ve been doing VO part time for a few years and have a pro-booth/set up. Within the last few weeks just signed with 2 agents. I recently lost my survival job, so now my attitude is screw it, let’s go all in, try to make VO full time (advice on that would also be helpful).

I’m aware there’s also FiCore, but considering the controversy surrounding that, I’m hesitant and on the fence to go that route if presented with the opportunity. Just cautious about potentially screwing myself over in the future if life circumstances change.

Any and all thoughts are welcome.
