What is Titanium-A

Does it correspond to any titanium alloy we use today? Or is it something different? Why even call it titanium-a?

I mean titanium itself isn't actually that hard, only that it's a real bitch to machine, and at least when I try to cut it with a plasma cutter I have to really watch the amperage and travel speed because the stuff likes to burn otherwise, and that if you try to cut it with a saw, it gums up and dulls saw blades unless you cut very slowly (or with lots of coolant).

I mean it can explain why plasma torpedo just burns through the stuff...

Human joining the Covenant

Just flipping the script a bit...

What if instead of the humans being exterminated by the Covenant, the prophets, wanting to make the great journey, invites humanity to join the Covenant, and makes them almost god like because they're the only ones that can activate a halo.

And so perhaps the story of Halo CE would still be similar, a ship called Pillar of Autumn going to the halo rings. Except instead of being a crappy Halcyon class ship that can't even take a single plasma torpedo, this is a human built ship with technology that humans have built with the help Covenant engineers. Master Chief and Cortana being tasked to travel to Installation 04 to begin the great journey.

But on the way the ship was attacked by heretics, and so Chief abandons ship to ensure the great journey can happen, but along the way Chief learns that the truth of the great journey, and as a result is declared a heretic and the entire Covenant was ordered to kill the Chief. So now he and Cortana must destroy the Halo ring and it ends up getting the Pillar of Autumn destroyed to destroy the ring, because the Flood was released.

Then in Halo 2 the Arbiter was tasked to hunt the chief down but then also learns about the truth, and Chief convinced humans on Earth of the truth, so the prophets send a fleet to invade Earth. But then they end up in installation 5 and then high charity gets flood infested, and so now the arbiter and chief must team up to keep the rest of the humans from activating the halo ring along with the brutes.

Error 1076 after around 10 or so prompts

I'm not sure why, but I would get error 1076 after anywhere from 10 to 15 prompts. Gemini says it's a token issue but I don't think it even knows, because when I asked it where am I on the token consumption it says I'm well below any limits. So it looks like a bug with the server or something. Because once 1076 happens the entire chat locks up. I can't even ask for a summary to export it. Basically it's as if the entire chat is blacklisted. I thought it might be that I've asked it a forbidden topic but it's looking like a general error because it does this no matter what topic I ask, complete thread failure after around 10 prompts.

In the past refreshing brought it back but now regardless of whether I access it from my computer, phone, or some other computer that thread locks up.

PX Mart are always shelf bare

No, nothing to do with typhoon announcement and all that. Almost every time I go to a PX Mart in normal times, no holiday rush, or typhoon related rush, they are almost always out of exactly what I needed at that moment. In fact most the time the shelves are pretty bare looking for most food items.

Carrefour and what used to be Welcome doesn't have this problem.

I almost hate PX mart for this reason, and they're expensive too.

Gas spring upgrade

I added gas springs to my cheap press. Next up I will replace the central bearing because it's sloppy. I got some crossed axial bearing (those XRU bearings) that can handle a lot more force than a press will ever see and has zero slop. Also changed the platen to aluminum because the original wooden one bowed meaning the print wouldn't print properly... aluminum can't bow at all.

permanent emulsion

So I heard somewhere that you could take those isocyanate hardeners that are used to make contact cement dry harder than normal (screen printers in Asia use them to glue screens to frames) over cured emulsion and it will make the emulsion essentially permanent. Basically in this state it will not even respond to reclaim solutions, but if it's a design that will permanently stay on that screen, it can be a good thing to do as the emulsion will also not ever wear out.

Has anyone tried this for real?

Incremental upgrade to my cheap 4 color press

As I cannot get anything from Kruzer or Vastex, as I am in Taiwan, I am stuck with what China offers or whatever local Taiwanese makers offer. Fine Cause quoted me something like 3000USD for a 4 color press, but as I don't do anything high volume, I really don't need multiple pallets.

First thing I am doing is changing out the wooden pallet for an aluminum plate. This must be done because the wood warped under heat, and so now it will not print correctly where one side lays down a too thick layer of ink while the other side I must pull again.

Then I plan to replace the springs with gas springs so that the thing won't be at a risk of breaking or sagging.

Finally, the center bearing uses a flange bearing that says FC205. It's a standard ball bearing and there's a slight play on it. What I want to do is replace that with XRU2512, it's one of those bearings that have cylinders inside at 90 degree angles to each other so they can take a LOT of force despite their low thickness.

Computer part prices in Taiwan

So I did some internet searching and asked gemeni ai about the computer parts shortage, and why stuff like CPU and GPU seems to be 30% more expensive in Taiwan compared to retailers like newegg.

They said that one reason for the higher prices, apart from the smaller market (when stuff is generally reserved for the us and eu market) is that Taiwan offers walk in warranty. Basically if my 5070ti were to die I can just walk into coolpc and they'll sort it out without needing to deal with rma. I've heard horror stories about people being denied rma in the US since gigabyte and Asus seems to always find reasons to deny them, like if there's even a tiny cosmetic scratch somewhere. But because Asus and gigabyte is located here, they can't just deny warranty for "reasons" and as such you could just walk in and they'll sort you out.

Has this been your experience in Taiwan? How have warranty issues been handled here?

Very efficient city services

I spotted a loose manhole cover (it makes a huge racket anytime a car drives over it), not wanting for accidents to happen, I called it in.

A guy shows up like within 30 minutes to fix it.

Recommended press that's a step up from the cheap 4 color?

The press I got is shit, but I can adjust the off contact by tilting the clamp (by adding shims).

I found out I can get free ship to Taiwan from Amazon, assuming the seller will deliver to Taiwan. Is there anything from Amazon that's a definite step up?

So I am using black inks for printing film positives but I'm finding that they would fade if exposed to ANY light within a couple of weeks!

I get that dye based inks do this but what kind of inks could I use that won't fade so soon? It was fading quite a bit in fact, basically turns light brown after exposure to light, meaning I cannot really reuse the transparency since it would have faded, and would have to reprint.

Do pigment inks work in this printer?
