I have an Atom L and the Android 10 is preventing some app functionality. Plus screen finally broke (10-foot fall flat on the face) and it's time to replace.

I use the rigged features (outdoor educator), but have owned non-rugged phones in the past, so am wondering if I am over-estimating the importance of waterproofing. Don't plan to dunk the phone but enjoy knowing rain is harmless.

For Jelly Max owners: have you dropped it? Taken it in the rain, say, in and out of a humid pocket, with drops landing on the phone to use it briefly?

I'm considering just getting another Atom L, since Android 11 is a tad newer than the 10. But of course apps will soon start dropping 11 anyway so it seems a waste of $250.

If Unihertz is listening: please just update Android for the Atom L! Same specs otherwise are fine....

Having issues with installing a ceiling fan in a Victorian triple-decker. Joists are 32" apart, and there's an old black gas pipe in the way also.

So: if we install a 2x4 across the top of the 2x6-ish joists, can we use a metal octagon box extension to hold the 4" deep fan-rated box, in order to get it down to the level of the ceiling? Is that robust enough?

Another idea is to stack an additional 2x4 below the other one.

I see a lot of people on this sub who seem to try out lots of phones...whether through Kickstarters, or buying used, etc. And often, it seems, the phones fail.

So do you all have extra phones laying around? How do you function in life, going through phones so quickly? How much time in life and how much mental energy do you spend dealing with your cell phone maintenance/logistical issues? Isn't changing from one to the other a pain?

I kept my Motos around (they only lasted a couple of years), but now even they won't work. If my phone dies, I'd have to get something immediately, which is impossible in the small phone market.
