Can real estate agents change details of the tenancy contract after I signed it

Hi All,

I recently relocated to UAE and 2 weeks ago, I paid the secured deposit and signed a tenancy contract with an agent.

I requested a fully executed copy of the tenancy contract and they said that they’ll give it to me once all the cheques are submitted to the landlord.

I submitted all the cheques including a cheque for the agent fees and I asked for a signed copy again. They refused saying the landlord wants to clear the first cheque and then he’ll send me the tenancy contract.

I went to their office yesterday and they showed me the fully signed tenancy contract and the contact details on the contract were all changed. In other words, it wasn’t the copy I signed.

I asked for all my cheques back and in the meantime I took a photo of the landlords number and contacted him to ask for the tenancy contract. He was more than happy to help and forwarded me the contract.

However, again, it’s not the copy I signed.

Isn’t this illegal?

Are bank agents allowed to contact you privately?

Hi All,

I’m a girl and I recently moved to UAE from Australia and I went to the bank to set up an account.

The bank agent seemed nice and friendly - I think Egyptian and he made a comment about my age when I handed him my EID about me being around 10 years younger than him to consider him for (insert mumbling) - weird but I laughed it off.

Last night, he reached out to me via WhatsApp using his personal number and asked if I received my cards.

I said yes and he went to say that he also moved to UAE around my age and that he is a gentleman with more experience who can help me.

I understand he is being nice but I don’t think using private bank information to reach out to someone privately is allowed no?

Small gift recommendations for driver

Hi All,

I just moved to Dubai recently, and I’m still adjusting and trying to sort out my paperwork.

Our company driver has been super helpful and supportive by driving me to my appointments and telling me everything about Dubai. He also bought me Karak!

He’s really positive and loves his job.

I would like to thank him through a small gift of appreciation.

I don’t want it to be too big. He’s not my personal driver and I don’t want to garner too much attention at work.

Just a small gift idea that would make his day or week.

I’d appreciate it!

Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions. I bought myself and him both a Stanley flip straw tumbler (arriving tomorrow). It would fit inside a car cup holder. I plan to put in a 100 AED note inside as a surprise inshaAllah 🌱
