Woot! Stomped them 3 to 1

>The Henderson Silver Knights turned a scoreless preseason opener into a 4-1 win over the Tucson Roadrunners on Saturday night, getting contributions from several young players in Joel Ward’s first game behind the bench as Henderson’s head coach.

>Henderson scored twice in the second period and added two more in the third while Carl Lindbom stopped 26 of 27 shots. Mathieu Cataford and Samuel Mayer each finished with a goal and an assist, while Lucas Johansen had two assists.

>The Silver Knights also killed all four Tucson power plays and went 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

Also, the Roadrunners absolutely shelled Lindbom in the 3rd period with 17 shots on goal ... and he noped them all.

Take two on this post since I was unclear in my previous attempt. Thank you to those who pointed out my errors and offered corrections.

There have been several discussions about this horrible tragedy here on Reddit, and that's good, but ACTION is better.

If you live in Arizona, are a graduate from any public university in Arizona, or are attending a public university in Arizona, contact the Arizona Board of Regents and insist on an independent investigation by Arizona Department of Public Safety into this case, and that the coaching team on duty that day be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of that investigation.

(Currently the ASU UPD is investigating, but they are not answerable to the public in the same way as the State PD is, and they do not frequently investigate potential homicides.)

If you live in Arizona, contact the governor, and call for in independent investigation into this case by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

If you live in the United States or ever played for an NCAA college team, contact the NCAA and ask for three things

1. that they perform independent investigation into the case of Matthew Mayich to see if the ASU Hockey program is run in a way that meets NCAA standards for professionalism and duty of care to players.
2. that the NCAA render all assistance to any player currently in the program who wishes to leave and play for a different program or team.
3. that they issue a mandate that in NCAA affiliated teams, no player or staff shall ever be denied access to sufficient hydration during play or practice, or otherwise be penalized, or chastised for requesting and/or drinking water or other rehydration fluids during play or practice.

At most, it will cost you 30 minutes of your time, but it will give the next Matthew Mayich the rest of their life.

And finally, since I have been accused of Karma farming in my previous post. I have been on Reddit for 8 years. I show only some of my posts/comments because I moderate a subreddit, and I work for State U, and I do not want to give my location away. (I have been sent some absolutely unhinged threats as a mod. I don't need that nonsense potentially showing up at my workplace.)

I will also say that I am a mandatory reporter for State U. I have had to make that mandatory report. I regularly walk by where the State U football team practices when I take a walk on my morning break, and I see barrels of water and gatorade set up in the shade of trees, as well as a trough of ice water. I know the best practices and standard of care for performing strenuous activity in the heat. The thought that the people responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the students in their program absolutely abandoned that standard of care has me utterly infuriated.

The question is, how do I finagle a way to get a goalie to sign it?

(And fuck yeah, I'm cooking T-Day dinner with it! Signed or not.)

Me? I use the a slight modification of the Kakeibo method described in the video.

I don't use cash envelopes -- I have a note at the top of each week in my Kakeibo for how much I can spend each week, and log expenses promptly so I don't go over. (I ask for receipts where possible.)

I create 5 "weeks" for each month, too, so I don't have to worry about having month start in the middle of a standard calendar week.

1. days 1-6
2. days 7-12
3. days 13-18
4. days 19-24
5. days 25-end of month

I've been using a Kakeibo since 2024 and it has been immensely helpful to me to see where my money is going and avoiding impulse spending.

I use my monthly planned savings to save up for big purchases (like next year's vacation), and if I have a big, unplanned expense and have to tap my eFund, then I use monthly planned savings to pay myself back over time.

I like this method as it lets you see spending week by week as you're doing it and the reflective journaling part of it contributes to the mindfulness of it all.
